Someone can explain me how play or how find someone to play GP3 online?????
Can Grand Prix 3 be raced online?
A player asked how to race GP3 online. Others said GPxPatch allows internet connections but GP3 has no lag compensation, making real races impractical. A side debate on whether European players care less about online play was rebutted by Europeans.
Automated summary.
As far as I know impossible - the data updates are too much for a slow
connection. Perhaps Geoff plans it for GP4.

I've heard that using GPx, you can play online with GP3. Haven't tried
myself, but others have said it works.

What he was saying is that while it is posable to connect to another
computer via the internet it is imposable to have a proper race because GP3
does nothing to compensate for the lag you get on even the best internet
connections.

How many would you like?
It's available at just about and GP3 add-on site.
http://www.alphaf1.com/gp3/
http://www.grandprix3.com/en/
And of course the author's site at:
http://www.xs4all.nl/~rsdi/gpxpatch.html
Hope this helps. : )

Age means nothing -- unless you're cheese!
Methinks what 'works' and 'what works' are two different things. Even
with this xpatch...can you race a full field of human drivers? Head to Head
is fun for about two laps unless you actually find two very closely matched
drivers.
Ya know, I was playing F1 World Circuit modem to modem back....oh a long
time ago....and at the same time also playing Doom, first head to head, then
4 player over a special bbs network system. Acpi or APci...can't remember
which...point is....here we are in the next FREAKIN' century...Doom 3 is
comming out...with tons of Multiplayer options that dwarf the
original....and what does GP3.5 have? The SAME MP code from the days of
Donkey Kong. !!!!!
pity......

Europe, the makers of GP3 don't think it's necessary to expend the funds to
develop good online play. Either that, or else they don't know what they're
doing.

Please explain your logic here. GP3's lack of multiplayer capability
is because it's supposed to be sold to Europeans ? Doesn't Europeans
play online ?
Agree on the last sentece though. :)

perhaps if papy bring out a F1 or a new indy/cart sim we will be able to
race that online just as well as nascar 3 & 4.
I tried GP2 modem to modem & it was a waste of time, to I guess GP3 would be
even worse.

I didn't say that Europeans never play online, but, possibly because of the
cost factor (cost per minute for users) online play is not as popular for
Europeans as it is for Americans. In a general sense, I think this is true.

Though I am hoping to get ADSL installed when it *hopefully* becomes
available within the next few months.
As for the point about per minute charges, most of the UK can now have fixed
rate internet access, can't speak for the rest of Europe though, so online
gaming is no longer a prohibitively expensive pastime.

I mean, let's make this simple. You guys in Europe know more about this
than I do. Do you think, generally, that games that are mainly targeted to
a European audience are as much concerned about multiplayer as they would be
if they had an American audience? This has nothing to do about anyone's
pride or anything: it's just a question that needs a truthful answer.
Of course the next thing to ask is whether GP3 (and its add on) is targeted
mainly for European audiences. Whatever the case, something is desperately
wrong with GP3's multiplay. All I'm doing is trying to find an answer as to
why this is the case.

We have un-metered dial-up, ISDN, cable modem and ADSL in the UK. More
expensive than the US for sure (by about 30-50%), but not unaffordable. I
also see plenty of UK/European servers on HL / UT / WinVroc.
We're not using the wheel yet though ;)
