OT & Fwiw:
Just stated on SpeedVision "with the newly added Nascar events
it will not affect any coverage for all Formula One events".. So it
seems other forms of racing will lose out. Like those super lawn
mower racing events. Ahh KaKa... :( ..lol

I heard the same comments during the F1 practice. The trouble is....they
only specific series they mentioned was CART. They did talk about
sportscar/endurance racing & F1 but they didn't say they would cover BOTH
American sportscar series. They didn't say they would cover the 4 big
endurance races here in the States....Daytona Rolex 24...that is a lock due
to the track(owned by Nascar) and the Sponsoring series, Grand Am, a partner
or subsidiary of Nascar. Le Mans...most likely that will stay...but Sebring
and the Le Petit Le Mans may not be covered...The ALMS is a competitor of
Grand Am(nascar partner...remember)
Or, if they are included, it will be due to existing contracts...I don't
know when the Speedvision contract with ALMS expires.
Trans Am is run by the SCCA, an indirect competior with Nascar. The one
bit of good news...is the CART anouncement...I haven't read it yet, but
Nascar is already in bed with the IRL, and if they take on CART, that shows
they at least won't be 100% monopolistic.(sp??)
I have noticed a decided lack of Euro coverage this year already. No FIA
events, no BTCC, no DTM.

Yes Todd! Those races are like living video games- constant bumping
and hard racing, followed by occasional road rage. The funnest and
fastest hour of racing on television. One of my favorite races is the
one where Nigel Mansell made a brief comeback (2 or 3 races before
hurting his neck in an off) in the rain at Donington Park 3 or 4 years
ago. A classic.
I also thought Charlie Cox was as good a SPORTS announcer as I have
ever heard. Fast, descriptive, and hilarious. A real revelation for me
watching his work.
sad sad sad.

Yep- I was really hoping they'd get DTM and also continue the BTCC coverage
they had last year. Instead they'll be bringing me even more NASCAR. sigh
WHAT? No more Super Lawn Mower Races? That's it, I'm canceling my cable!

Yes, I loved the BTCC racing. Passing was great... wait a few laps and if
you can't get by then just barge through on the inside with a liberal amount
of contact :-)
I found last season a bit boring after a few of the manufacturers pulled out
(Volvo and Renault?).
