Act-Labs GPL Shifter

Got an e-mail yesterday with a UPS tracking number for mine, should arrive next Friday.

i haven't got the shifter, but i have got the force-rs wheel, ordered waaaay back in april, arrived last thurs, before they sent me an email saying they'd sent it! i'm currently busy trying to re-program by feet and arms to use the new pedals and wheel before even trying the force-feedback stuff. lap times at the moment are a full 3 seconds down, as the brake pedal is not very smooth. i assure it'll wear-in over the next few weeks. anyone got any advice/experience about this? ta, martin.

When you get it working (Win98 original) please update us on how you did it. It fails to "magically" appear in the Gaming options box for me and I can't use Add other to make it a chooseable gaming device. Jason. The documentation said it's suppose to appear. No biggie, if it worked :( GPL sees the first 6 gears as buttons 10 through 15. Too bad it doesn't see the last 2 gears (actually 7th gear and reverse). Even the GPL Shift-it tool says the shifter should be the 2nd controller but it doesn't map any buttons other than the default of 2-? Yes, I put 10 11 12 13 14 15 in the gplshift.ini file. Wierd! I haven't used the shifter for a while. Let me hook it up and see what the deal is. At least, I don't _remember_ it showing up in game options. I've used it in GPL and N4. BTW, you have to get a utility to make the shifter work right in GPL. Once you do, it's awesome! I've added a clutch pedal to my RS pedals, and it really makes you appreciate how much work shifting really is. I just hooked up the shifter and checked to make sure it was lighting up buttons in the Force RS menu of gaming options. There was nothing extra showing in the device window. Once I saw the buttons lighting up, I went to N4, selected H-pattern shifter, assigned the gears, and headed out to the track. It works fine. For gpl, there is a patch that creates a new GPL executable called gpl-rshift.exe. When I ran this, the gear box was fully non-sequential. It works fine. Hello, Ideally, you should be using the GPL USB Shifter with Win98SE. Win98 works sometimes, but its support for USB devices is more "sketchy." To confirm what Pat has said, the RS Shifter does not show up if you have it connected to a Force RS. It simply recognizes as part of the Force RS.
