EA's Australian V8 Supercar game and bad V8 games

A poster asked about 'Project Australia', identified as EA Sports V8 Challenge, an Aussie V8 touring car game based on the STCC2 engine slated for an Australian release in September. The thread became nostalgic mockery of terrible earlier V8 games such as Dick Johnson's V8 Challenge, which used video footage, and banter about old movies.

Does anyone know anything about this title? I have been looking around the net for some info on it after reading the release date on the Highgear website being Sept xx? Does anyone have any links - info, screenshots etc as I have no idea what the hell this game is... Thanks Matt
Apparently the complete title would be EA Sports V8 Challenge, a game featuring Aussie V8 touringcars based on the STCC2 engine. Indeed slated for an Australia only release early September. I got buddies down under looking out for it. Jan. =--- "Pay attention when I'm talking to you boy!" -Foghorn Leghorn. "Matt" wrote...

And can't be worse than "Dick Johnson's V8 Challenge". That was one hell of a crap game. Rafe Mc On Sun, 19 Aug 2001 17:18:51 +0200, Goy Larsen <[email hidden]> wrote:

There are few things in this world worse that DJ's V8 challenge, and one of them was another game based on the AussieV8 series...or the Bathurst track anyway Amazing how such a good and exciting racing series has never spawned a decent sim....or even game ? I'd challenge *anyone* to show me anything comparable to that! I also think they tacked on a Ford car body with it being projected on a screen and rolled it out at a few car shows. People were coming out amazed. ;) Cheers, Rod.

The best bit was that you drove looking through the cockpit, with the dash etc, looking at the back of your car (ala F-10 view). Book "Rod Prince" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:MPG.15ec26343791c32998998d@news-server...

I have the worst ever drive game produced. TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP The box looked ok, had two Holden Commodores on the front, I thought great would be able to race around Bathurst but I have never even completed a lap. This could well be the game, and I use the widest possible meaning of the term here, we're talking about here, does the track look like it's made up of a series of photos instead of computer gfx ? Yea that's right, the track is a video clip, I even email Holden race team & asked them how they could support this game & did they try it before allowing the HRT cars on the front of the box. Well the only reason I used GPL as a reference guide because you are usually steering-shifting-up/down-braking' almost non-stop and it is a bit tuff with just hands but then again [for me] I get smoother action when I use my hands. Of course I can only use my hands & I have never had the option to use my feet. [its a boring story] Yes I have a nice mini-5x9x20-type bench that fits on my bed and my Ferrari FF wheel locks in nicely. Prior I had the GP1, a TSW2 & a TM Sprint but I really like the FF effects.. I do the same with my Guillemot FF joystick too.. Anyway I am not first' or only who has the paddles but I'd guess there arent many who race on a bed.. hahahaha "Goy Larsen" wrote:
