How could any developer claim to be making a sim and not support split axis?! Jeez - especially with the old FWD cars wasn't balancing the throttle against the brakes THE way to drive the cars? Please tell me this is a joke/unfounded rumor. If true, I will not be buying this title, Why not take out the in-car view while they're at it :(? Kendt

I read a few posts on the JoWood board about the upcoming Rally Trophy, which certainly LOOKS good. First off, there are many claims that it has GPL-level physics. This is a good thing. Those old rally cars should be a lot of fun to drive with realistic modelling on realistic tracks. Second, there are reports that the game doesn't support split axis pedals. HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do we have to go through this bs again. GPL-level physics and no split axis are mutually exclusive. How could you even test the physics let alone make grandiose claims about them without the ability to use both pedals independently?????????????? If this is true, then even if the developers "fix" the problem at this late stage, the whole game engine has been based on arcade-level parameters. Please confirm that RT is in fact a simulation and as such would have split axis pedal support from day 1 or else no one who knows anything about sims could alpha or beta test it and still be calling it a sim. I am really hoping this is a false statement and that I am over-reacting needlessly--please tell me that split axis is and always has bee in there! I am so sick and tired of so-called racing sims that a) don't support all common racing controllers out-of-the-box; and b) have such unsophisticated physics that they can't comprehend that ALL racing involves the use of independent pedal activity (especially rallying, for god's sake!!!!!!!!!!!!!). This is 2001. GPL managed to do it perfectly in 1998. Marc. -- **************************************************************************** Marc Collins [email hidden] Your mouse has moved. Quote from Bugbear: "Anyways, RT supports separate axis all fine as long as they work in DirectX. -Ilari" Some beta testers are having some controller setup issues, but it would appear to be planned from the outset Tony "Marc Collins" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:OoFg7.18800$[email hidden]...

Rally Trophy supports split-axis pedals, has always supported and will always support. Some previewers had initial trouble when their pedals defaulted to combined axis, but it was just a matter of point and click in the setup stuff. It's scary how fast rumors begin to grow.. Let's not get into the in-car view issue :), but obviously we agree. Marc. Thank you for confirming this Ilari. I said I hoped it was false. You must realise, though, how many times we have been disappointed in the past with seemingly unbelievable oversights. I truly hope RT is the GPL of the rally scene. I will certainly be buying at least 1 copy! Now, will it be available from the outset in Canada? Marc. Whew! OK - right back to the top of my "must-buy" list :)! Kendt PS - anyone in your company or beta program running V3/V5 cards?
That's nothing, IIari. When I was beta testing RC2000, my friend ymenard said there were only 45 degree turns in the game, and that the tracks couldn't be realistic because of this. He based his assumption on screenshots. No matter what I told him, he insisted on perpetuating this this rumour. Hmm, should of said 90 degree turns. Not 45's. David G Fisher "David G Fisher" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:HJXg7.126359$[email hidden]...
