England's 5-1 win over Germany
Simon Brown celebrated England's 5-1 World Cup qualifying win in Germany. The thread became football banter among European posters about national teams' fortunes, including a famous Norwegian commentary that was parodied.

What bugs me, in this age of global travel, is that we still have the local
qualifying groups. Then, Holland fail to qualify, but Saudi Arabia, or some
other duff nation do. If it's about bringing exposure to the minnows,
wouldn't the qualifying group do that too?

Well, our own team lost 0-3 to Poland this weekend......I need to went,
we're now dead last in our qualifying group, as I stated earlier,
pitiful....and I'm not even particularly interested in football, some
would say that's pretty obvious since I root for Vaalerenga, but there
you go...:-)
Oh well, another match on Wed, against Wales no less, can't wait to get
our national butt kicked again, hopefully we will lose by a lot and the
national football association will be *forced* to replace our current
couch which has taken us from being one of the more feared (I didn't
say we were good, just difficult to play against and good at stealing
points, just ask Brazil :-) national teams, to being one of the nations
everyone wants to meet;
"hey we got Norway in our group"
"well, that's 6 points at least...."
Oh well, it could have been worse, we could have hired a Swede to coach
the team......err, hang on.......nevermind

Neither was I, until our former coach (not couch) started to show the
nation we could handle nations like Italy and Brazil, we humiliated
Brazil in a private match just before the WC in 98, and then we beat
them again in the actual WC, those things kinda make you a believer,
then we switched coach and we're back to our normal regular schedule,
still, I sit in front of the TV every match hoping for some of the glory
days to return, but alas
How this will make me faster in GPL I have no idea

names ring a bell and they're all Norwegian, obviously, but I can't think of

Minge is a colloquial term (gypsy origin I think) referring to a part of a
lady's anatomy, a front bottom, if you will.
For the purposes of satire, it probably sounded "foreign" enough to make a
spoof name from.

Oh well, time to go and watch our team getting the crap kicked out of
them by Wales (?), GO WALES, WALES RULES
I hope Ryan Giggs has one of his "days" and makes a complete fool of our
defense, the only way I can see our current couch, or coach, take your
pick, stepping down so that we can hire one that can bring back the
glory days, yes, we've had a couple, we beat Brazil TWICE in 98, one of
them was in the WC no less.....
