Last report I read said that he's now stable, but the damage to his legs is irreparable. :-( from the cart website at www.cart.com : INJURY UPDATE: According to Dr. Steve Olvey, CART Director of Medical Affairs, Alex Tagliani is awake and alert at Klinikum Berlin-Marzahn (hospital). He received a CT scan and x-rays, which revealed no injuries. He also received an x-ray of his left knee, which revealed no injuries. The current plan is to keep him under observation for 24 to 48 hours. Alex Zanardi has lost both of his legs, one above the knee, one below. He also sustained a possible broken pelvis, he was in stable condition when he was admitted to surgery at about 6:00 p.m. local time. The procedure was expected to take about five hours.
