Can anyone help? I can be using Windows Explorer for a few minutes or
so, and the for no reason at all everything would freeze, the mouse
will still work, but it wont work on anything! The only thing I can do
is reset and start again.Go through scandisk etc . All games seem to
work ok, and I dont get any freezing in them, so what is going wrong
with Explorer?
It is Explorer 5
Thanks in advance
Ben
Ben, if this just happens in Internet Explorer.
Check for viruses, (Norton 2002 updated daily here) especially in the
"Windows\Temporary Internet Files" folder.
I have checked "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is
closed" in the advanced Tab of Internet Properties box.
I have found a virus from a web page there recently.
Crafty little buggers these virus writers are.
If you have "Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 6a
(SP6a) and higher, or Windows 2000".
Upgrade to Internet Explorer 6.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.asp
IE 6.0 has so much more security features.
Explorer 5 has a lot of vulnerabilities, make sure that you have all
"UPDATES"!
i.e. 5.5 SP-2
Keep your security settings "TIGHT" remember The "USA" is at War.
Also see my reply to your video driver post about drivers. It could be a
video driver graphics freeze. I've had that happen with certain NVIDIA
drivers out of all the various (leaked) versions that I have tried.

Hi Mr Redline :)
Thanks so much for taking the time to answer both of my questions. I
will have alot to check up on when I get back from my holiday to
Spain. ( I leave in 7 hours ).
It is so nice to know that there are knowledgable people out there
willing to give total strangers a pointer in the right direction.
Perhaps the world isn't so bad after all with communities like these.
As the old saying goes.. ' make love, not war'.
thanks once again,
Ben.
BTW, I will visit your web site when i am back..
