Hi all..loaded the latest 21.83's for the gf3 and now can run f1 2001 without crashing. Very choppy set at desktop res of 1280*1024. Will follow some advice from previous posts to get it running smooth. DC

Try running in a lower resolution and especially go to 16 bit. If you want pretty graphics over smooth play, then stay at 1280x1024. To me, there's no express reason why anyone would want to pump F1 2001 up so high, resolution wise. I'm guessing that that could be your problem. I cannot find much difference in speed between the lowest 16 bit and the highest 32 bit!! And both give object detail level "full" and texture detail level "minimum", when I run the config analyze!! (I have AMD 1.13GHz, GF2 GTS with driver 12.90.) Strange! Any ideas? (and windowedmode=1 crashes the program...) Arto -- http://www.cs.helsinki.fi/u/wikla/music.html

And when I run the config analyze with windowedmode=1, I get triangle rate "Cannot set mode" object detail level "Full" texture detail level "Full" (windowedmode=0 produces "1,8 Mtri/second") Perhaps this helps someone diagnose my problem?! Arto -- http://www.cs.helsinki.fi/u/wikla/music.html
eh.... the reason might be to get much better looking graphics maybe? I run at 1280 and it's as smooth as you could possibly want and that's with everything set to max. Iain "Alan Bernardo" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:wf%x7.9114$[email hidden]...

Sure, but if it's not smooth, would you sacrifice high resolution for smooth gameplay? Run in windowed mode for good frame rates.
I have it running nicely now however I cannot get my TSW to work. Appears as if it is not recognized once I leave the controller screen and try to drive. I lose my throttle? Are you setting the desktop to the same res as the game?

If you run the game at >1024x768 then set the desktop to the same res too. Thanks Dave! That helped in the crashing problem! But the textures still stay "low" and graphics did not become faster... David Try turning the sound off, of it runs ok then it may be the same problem I had. I cured it by using 12.41 drivers allthough I've now got 21.85's on and they seem ok apart from some advertising banners flashing HTH Craig "David Ciemny" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:WPYx7.2148$[email hidden]...

No, but that was not his point, he said he could think of 'no express reason' for pumping the res up so high! Iain "Alan Bernardo" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:in3y7.9263$[email hidden]... > Sure, but if it's not smooth, would you sacrifice high resolution forsmooth

After you get it configured correctly, hold the pedal down from the time you select the race until the time you actually get ON the track. You'll have to do that EVERY time you drive(training/practice/race). Well, that's what I have to do with *my* TSW2 to make EA games recognize it. Someone else gave me that tip for F12k, but I don't know why you have to jump such hoops. Something's weird here. I don't think it's the TSW, because I don't have those problems with ANY other game I own...
