Angry rant calling F1 2001 garbage

A poster ranted about EA's startup logos, F1 2001's performance with current drivers and the lack of 22-player online racing. Others mocked the rant, linked a skip-movies patch, and reported good performance on various systems, with later posts sharing working configurations such as windowed mode with recent drivers.

Here we go ! The first thing is EA Sports Shoving there Logo up are Ass During start up to remind us of the incompetent company that hired a team of Idiots to write software, Then there software doesn't run with the latest drivers which were out well before the game, The game is supposed to be State Of The Art ,What the F--K Happened, The readme file says don't run above 800x600, {F--K_U,} I got a P4 1900ghz with 512megs of rambus and gforce3 card if i cant run @ least 1024x768 with that they can kiss my ass, Then the standard setups for the cars aren't even close for the Tracks, And there is not any support for A1 cars during internet play since when is there only 8 cars in a F1 Race, this game simulates a team of Losers that couldn't program a VCR, Ya im pissed there goes another 30 bucks for a game that was rushed to the store shelves with only money in mind, I guess its forget getting it right ,and put a unfinished game on the shelves, We can only hope PAPYRUS will program a F1 simulation game, As they are the only company that has a team of Competent programmers,

SuperBike was the first and last EA Sports game I've ever bought. "It's in the game" alright, but I'm not playing. I don't care how good it is, unless they let us turn of these ridiculous startup screens, they can keep their games.

Seems to like my TBird 1.333, GF2 Ultra but I do have to run it in windowed mode, at the same res as my desktop (1270x1024x16). I haven't had to dick around with older drivers or use fraps either. Fraps tells me 55-75 fps when I do use it. "Dale Green" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

http://www.jensonf1.com/f12001/, download the "skip movies patch" in the downloads section. All it does is replace the "it's in the game" and F1 movies with 1-frame movies. Makes it load much faster, and less annoying. "EldredP" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > I agree the startup screen sucks, and I wish we could turn it off. Okay, so you're complaints are the logo at start up, the fact that you can't race 22 players online, and how the game runs so slow on your machine. Then you throw in your Papyrus allusion. First, get the no movies fix. Second, 22 players online would be difficult under the best circumstances. Third, the game runs just fine on my P4 1.3 machine. I've had so many excellent GPL league races with a full field, 19 drivers.. It can be done and there is no excuse that new games can't do what a 3-year old game can't do.. I had -some- nice online races with f1 2001, with 3-6 people, but we gave up playing online because the number of bugs in multiplayer is too overwhelming.. I never tried that F1RC Relay thingy, but I heard it will also support F1 2001 in the future? F1 2001 is great fun online -when- it works.. Andre

I agree. Isn't it terrible when you can barely get 50fps at the start?!? Of course, mine's a XP1800+ with a Radeon 8500. Warlock! Joe Marques wrote:

No need to use windowed mode anymore and the cars are displaying in the mirrors correctly. Now if ATI would just fix the missing textures problem in FS2002.... :-(
Hi Jerry: GF3 Ti 500 Det. 22.80's Windowedmode=1 (config.ini file) Same desktop as game: 1024x768 32-bit FSAA and Vsync: UNCHECKED (Trying FSAA=BSOD) All graphics full except other cars, set to med or low (I forget but this is important since BIG textures for cars=fps hit). FRAPS 1.5 running (works with or without fraps, I used fraps to get fps). Monaco hot laps: 105+ Monaco race full field, mid pack: 40 start of race and 45-80 fps during race. -- Joe Marques "Jerry" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > Please share the tweaks with us!
