Sierra France rumour: NASCAR 5 and GPL '72

Posters shared the simactu.com report, translated from French, that NASCAR Racing 5 was due in March 2002 and 'Grand Prix Legends 72' in September 2002, according to Sierra France. Reactions mixed excitement with scepticism and jokes about other rumoured seasons such as 1982 and conspiracy theories about Geoff Crammond. Most doubted that GPL '72 would appear on that schedule.

I hear that someone heard from someone heard from Cassidy that the REAL GPL 2 season will be '82. Of course this is just a rumor I heard and could be wrong :) "Art McEwen" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:9sefpm$b7u$[email hidden]...

That was probably one of the worst years of F1, ground effects and turbos had started to take over. The tracks & cars were horribly unsafe (Villeneuve, Paletti killed, Pironi paralysed), there was a pitched battle between the car owners and the ruling body, the season started with a drivers strike, teams boycotted some races, there was an alternative series started..... Ugly year, I hope not.
In 1982 you had both normally aspirated and early turbo engines, and no less than 7 teams won races that year. Sounds fun to me!! Lol SpeedFreek.
Yes. I am old enough. I remember '73 a little, not '72. But remember that period, and from what I know '72 is the right choice. Having met David Noonan in real life, UK last summer, also present was Jan Kohl and Stuart Brown from "The Pits", we shared a couple of beers and I asked him if this was true, he said so himself, so I wouldn't call this a theory, it's a fact....... I think the key to that statement was - "a couple of beers" :) Ash

Are you insinuating something here....? Besides, as Uncle Fester said, Geoff Crammond was not at the pub there with us, not that I stood up and shouted "IS GEOFF CRAMMOND HERE ?", as I thought that would be a bit rude, it wasn't that kind of pub....:-) Beer was good though Beers and cheers (uncle) Goy "The Pits" http://www.theuspits.com/ * Spam is for losers who can't get business any other way * "Spamkiller" http://www.spamkiller.com

Yeah, found the screenies after all and it looks good! I haven't done much work on the Linux racer version recently because of a new job and driving the RT demo and GPL to bits.... looks like I need to refresh my enthusiasm ;-) the 0.4.9a2 did not compile on my home system because of a missing "iostream.h"... although the file is there. Could be another dependancy problem? Cheers, Uwe
GPL '72 in Sept '02. It ain't going to happen. Even if it does, it won't be out for 2 or 3 years, based on the fact that this is the first we've heard of it. Nascar 5? Yawn, big suprise there.

Come to us. As Industrial gas supplier we always have tons of liquid Nitrogen in our tanks. So freezing is not the problem. We are still working on the thawing procedure.
