Hi everyone,
It time for a new release of GPL Replay Analyser (GPLRA) again -
version 5.0 .
This time we have some improvements in both the analysing and the
report parts of the program. Also included is online integration with
the popular GPLRank site. GPL track creators will also find an
improved(hopefully) groove generating tool.
New stuff in the analysing part:
*Added new tool - Traction Circle. With this you see the forces acting
on the car and can judge the performance of the car and driver. Big
thanks to Mark Gold for all help doing this.
Screenshot: http://home.bip.net/martin/gplra/tractioncircle.gif
*Added longitudal and lateral acceleration to graph.
*Added longitudal and lateral acceleration to telemetry export.
*Removed "Time" from graph as the same info can be obtained by using
the time difference graph.
*The highlight of current track position in the graph has been
updated, it now shows the 1% of the track around current position.
This to make it easier to see on all tracks (incl the Ring)
New report:
*Added new report - Race History Graph. This shows the development of
the race for all drivers in one single graph. All drivers are compared
to a virtual driver whose laptimes are consistent and equal to the
winner's average laptime. Such a report is a long time request. But it
wasn't until Martijn Taffer pointed us to an example of how it could
be done in a good way we decided to implement it.
Screenshot: http://home.bip.net/martin/gplra/racehistorygraph.gif
Screenshot:
http://home.bip.net/martin/gplra/racehistorygraphzoomed.gif (zoomed on
leaders))
PB-viewer:
*Added option to upload laptimes directly to GPLRank from PB-Viewer.
This means you no longer have to save an ini-file and point your
web-browser to it. At the moment GPLRank will only record the laptimes
for addon tracks, but in the future(pending changes on GPLRank) even
the original track's times might be submitted this way.
Groove tool for track creators:
*Added a new way of doing the groove darkness based on calculated
total acceleration. This should (hopefully) generate better looking
and more realistic grooves.
Bugs fixed:
-Removed a memory leak in PB Viewer which was introduced in v4.8
-Under some circumstances more than one Export Records html file could
get the same name (Snett and Snett67). Fixed.
-Not a bug, but we changed the way we store the path to GPL as GPL's
default way of doing this caused problems for some Win2k and WinXP
users.
-Some other minor issues which probably noone noticed anyway.
We have also updated most of the screenshots at the site as the old
ones were outdated.
For download and more information about this program, go to:
http://home.bip.net/martin/gplra
Cheers,
Martin and Jonas
Notable threadGPL Replay Analyser 5.0 released
Martin Granberg announced version 5.0 of GPL Replay Analyser, by him and Jonas, with improved analysis and reports, a traction-circle viewer, a race history graph and GPLRank integration. Users praised the traction circle as especially revealing when comparing laps with Greger Huttu's, and asked for print and export options. Granberg noted that telemetry can already be saved as text and that a GPL2 would need major changes.
Automated summary.
You guys rock! Thanks for all your work!

The traction circle tool is the neatest thing I've seen in a while. Running through a lap with the cursor with Me vs Huttu loaded
is VERY informative, even more so than the graphs were. Sad, but informative! Love the music, too... ;-)

the only things I can think of to make it perfect are....
Print option for the graphs - i ended up going to 1600 x 1200, and screen
grabbing to print one off (I like to sit down and study graphs - used to
doing it with real Stack data logger stuff)
and a colour options thing. i.e I'd like to be able to change the map
colours - make the track a lighter grey, or change the graph colours etc.
I dont know how much of a bastard these would be to impliment - but in the
meantime - thanks for a cracking tool

Is this version compatible with GPL2? Or will it be patched later on?

(FWIW, links to screenshots below are dead, perhaps missing a "reports" folder reference after "gplra".)

Awesome job, guys! The traction circle and acceleration graphs are
fantastic additions.
Thanks so much for giving us this great utility, Martin and Jonas!

Hehe, *IF* there ever is a GPL2 we would have to change a lot of
things to make GPLRA work with it. The replay format changed to N4 and
the track format changed *a lot* to N4 and any GPL2 would probably
build on N4 rather than GPL.

We believe in the "paper free office" and care of the trees still
standing so we boycot all printing! :)
No seriously, we might do it. The graph needs a total redesign IMO and
we've felt that it is better to way with improvements until that
redesign is done. Might happen.

This has been on our "todo"-list for a while as colours differs a lot
from screen to screen. Might happen in upcoming versions.

An "Export data" in flat files feature would be enough for me. I could
reload it in Excel.
Fantastic job anyway.
My first "Traction circle" graphs showed me that G. Huttu accelerate before
me and brake after me. Well, I must confess it was not such a surprise :-)

Try File->Save telemetry to text. It should be what you want.

The traction circle option is fking great, thanks a lot!
I knew there had to be something special in it since it's upgraded to
