I recently bought the same card and I have a similar problem, my game recognises my card and actually starts up in d3d mode, but as soon as I get in the cockpit, everything freezes (keyboard, joystick etc) and I have to reboot. I have the game running in openGL, but as soon as I try to go back to the stands, I only see half the screen. It doesn't get any better unless I restart the game, but then I lose all my replays. Does anyone have suggestions for either of the 2 problems? it works fine for me with dx8.0 similar setup

I used to have GPL running nicely on my system, but I can't get it going properly anymore after replacing my hard disk. I had 1.2 with the D3D patch and lots of other add-ons working on a GeForce 2MX 32 MB. Running out of hard disk space, I installed a new, bigger, faster disk as my C: drive, set it up the same as the previous system (Win98SE, same drivers, etc), and copied the entire Sierra folder to it. Ran GPL, but it didn't want to change to D3D mode any more. If I select D3D and restart, it comes back in Software mode again. I swapped the 2 drives back and checked all settings, including IRQ, I/O and memory settings of the graphics card: they're exactly the same as when booting from the new drive. Resolution, color depth, even refresh rate are the same. Also tried a fresh install of GPL + 1.2 patch + D3D patch: no go. It doesn't seem to recognise the graphics card properly, since the GPL startup screen does not show 'Nvidia Geforce 2MX' in the top left corner as on the old system. After one full evening of experimenting, I'm at a loss. The best I got so far was OpenGL mode, but not as well as it used to run in D3D. Does anyone have an idea what I'm overlooking? Regards, Theo

Of course, 5 minutes after posting this it dawned on me: DirectX ! Win98SE comes with 6.0, and on the old system I upgraded to 7.0a a long time ago. Did that again, and it's OK now. Ran a few laps in the Ferrari just to celebrate. Is it sensible to upgrade to 8.0a? I'm more of the "if it ain't broken, don't fix it" type, so I never changed from 7 to 8... (I had the same half-screen problem with OpenGL, by the way. Never had it freezing in D3D mode. It's a PII-400, a Hercules Geforce 2MX, nVidia 6.50 reference drivers) Theo Bla Bla <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:91eL7.1735$[email hidden]... > I recently bought the same card and I have a similar problem, my game > recognises my card and actually starts up in d3d mode, but as soon as Iget

If you copied a saved version from a CD all the files including the configure files are "read only" and are locked. Go into your GPL directory "select all", RIGHT click on the files, a menu will pop up. Uncheck the Read Only box. That should fix it! buzard "TCM" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:9tjpoc$2pja$[email hidden]... > I used to have GPL running nicely on my system, but I can't get it going > properly anymore after replacing my hard disk. > > I had 1.2 with the D3D patch and lots of other add-ons working on aGeForce > 2MX 32 MB. Thanks. I had that the last time I reinstalled. This time it was a direct copy from my previous hard drive, so no problem with read-only files. Anyway, a DirectX upgrade did the trick. Theo Bob Thurman <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:YkuL7.3078$[email hidden]...
