I can connect to servers on Sierra and OLR, but if I try to connected to a stand-alone server, I get the dreaded "Connection attempt timed out" message. I've verified that the IP is correct, and I'm using the TCP/IP prototcol. I'm trying to connect through a router, and my core.ini file has [Communications] alternate_ip_addr_lookup=1 Even though I'm not hosting, I even have the correct ports forwarded to this machine. Anybody got any clues as to what I might be doing wrong? -- ========================================================= Redneck Techno-Biker & "programming deity" http://www.paddedwall.org/john DeMONS/1 for Nascar Racing 3 & Nascar Legends http://www.paddedwall.org/demons DeMONS/2 for Nascar Racing 4 (in development) http://www.paddedwall.org/demons2 Barbarian Diecast Collector (460+ cars and counting) http://www.paddedwall.org/diecast If you want to send me email, go to the first URL shown above & click "Send Me Mail" in the contents frame. =========================================================
I don't think the no-cd patch works with N4 Online. I'm not running the no-CD patch. Beyond that, I stated that I can connect to Sierra servers and OLR just fine. In article <3c07c6d3$0$90970$[email hidden]>, [email hidden] says...

John, Does the "Connect Via" dropdown have more than one IP address in it? If you're typing the server address into the "IPAddress:" field, try selecting each IP address in the "Connect Via" dropdown before trying to connect (you should use the same address that you've selected in the sierra.com login dialog box). Only one IP address, but I also have IPX installed so theres an IPX address too. I am positive that the "connect via" IP address is correct, i have alternate_ip_lookup thing set to 1, and the server IP is correct. I'm going through a linksys router that has ports forwarded for using OLR, GPL, and Sierra. My net_server_port setting matches the first forwarded port (32866), but I don't think that mattters unless I intend on hsoting a race (right?). BTW, how's it going Randy? Long time no type at. :) In article <9u90s6$esu$[email hidden]>, [email hidden] says...
