I'm looking for some help. Just got the Logitech Momo FF (which I
love btw) and am having trouble with it in F1 2001.
1) I seem to have alot of trouble with calibration. When I start the
game and go to drivers school, I usually have no pedals whatsoever.
Steering works, but the accelerator and brakes are "non-existent."
I've tried going back to the controller settings and using the "USB
MOMO" setting as well as a custom one, but neither seems to do the
trick.
The only way that I seem to be able to get it to work is to go back to
the custom axis mapping and manually go through and assign the axes to
the pedals and steering. Funny thing is that the axis are always
shown correctly, but for some reason going through this excercise
seems to fix things. Anyone else experienced this?
BTW - I've run GPL and everything works fine, so I'm pretty sure its
something specific to F1 2001.
2) Can someone with a Momo please post their entire plr file. I've
tried cutting and pasting the FF advanced settings, but the file
always seems to get wiped out when I exit the game and check to see if
the settings stayed. I'm thinking it might have something to do with
the way I cut and pasted the text.
3) I'm thinking of installing the "squashball" and I've seen many
reference a squashball.reg file or some additional settings that need
to be changed to re-calibrate the pedals after this modification.
I've looked everywhere but can't seem to find this file. Can someone
please direct me to it?
Thanks in advance.

Logitech MOMO calibration problems in F1 2001
A new MOMO owner reported pedals disappearing and calibration problems in F1 2001. Andre Warringa said the disappearing pedals seemed to be an F1 2001 bug fixed by returning to the menu, and recommended the new Wingman 4.11c drivers, which include an off-centre fix and squash-ball pedal registry settings, plus DXDeadzone to remove DirectX dead zones.
Automated summary.

I would also be interested in this. I'm getting my new system next week
(already have the MOMO wheel), and I want to play F1 2001 as well. I see
trouble ahead... Maybe there should be a binaries equivalent of this
newsgroup (maybe not a bad idea, I'm thinking screenshots, replays,
setups?).

I think you need Clear Calibration, to be found here:
http://www.wingmanteam.com/Latest_Software/Gadgets/gadgets.htm
I'm not 100% sure though, maybe someone can confirm this?

No, the squashball reg file is in the Momo beta drivers, do a search
on the http://www.wingmanteam.com forum for them.

I have the 4.11 drivers (b or c?), but they don't seem to be in there. So
here's what I'm looking at: if I were to use the squashball, I may (?) run
into calibration problems, which may (?) be solved with a file called
squashball.reg, which is supposed to be included in some beta drivers, of
which the version number is unknown to me, so I wouldn't be able to find
them anyway...
That's just great... :(

Woops, forget my beta patch post, I just noticed new official drivers
have been released a couple of days ago, the 4.11c that you mention.
From the beta drivers page on www/wingmanteam.com:
Overview
All of the changes listed below have been incorporated into the
Logitech WingMan Software v4.11c release. We would like to that all
of you who participated & gave feedback in the beta. Every little bit
helps.
So.. make sure you install 4.11C and see if you have the squash reg
file then. Or maybe the reg file is not needed anymore after
installing 4.11c.. Do you actually have any problems with calibrating
after replacing the spring with the squashball?
After I put a squashball in my momo case, calibration was all messed
up, which was fixed with the reg file that came with the beta drivers.
I guess it has now been fixed with the 4.11c, and it seems you don't
need a seperate reg file for it anymore.
Simply try it, replace the spring with a squashball, and if you have
calib problems after that you can mail me and I'll send you the reg
file.
In the worst case you can still put the spring back in the case :)

No no, I haven't got round to getting a squashball yet. I'm currently buying
parts for a new PC, and I'm just in the 'preparing' phase, so to speak. I
don't play racing games right now, apart from good old Colin McRae. But I'm
definitely going to try it (already got the MOMO obviously, and I like it).
Apart from that, I think I have 4.11b, but I'm not sure.

Yeah, I actually came across your posts about that, just now on google
groups. But I thought you wrote you used ClearCalib to fix things?
I'm sure I will figure it out somehow, although I may take you up on that :)

No, that was about something else. The default deadzones in directx
are not set to 0. And for perfect control, you want them on 0, no
deadzones at all. I allways used an utility from wingmanteam for this
called DXTweak. But after I used that, the calibration of the momo was
totally messed up. That was fixed again by running ClearCalib.
So don't use DXTweak with the momo (allthough you can use it if you
set some values manually, but thats another story), simply use the
DXDeadzone utility to set the deadzones to 0 without any problems.
You can download all mentioned utils here:
http://www.wingmanteam.com/Latest_Software/Gadgets/gadgets.htm

Yes it's all pretty easy to do actually so don't worry :)

That's why I din't see the reg file, because I have the new 4.11c
drivers which must have it built in. Thanks for the help.
Still haven't fixed my lack of pedals though. Its really weird. Last
night I actually had pedals and everything for drivers school. Then I
went into a race and sudenly they were gone again! I had to go back,
reassign axes and then everything was back again. Very strange...

This was in F1 2001 I assume? I don't think it's momo-related but a
bug in F1 2001 instead. I had this a couple of times with my momo
pedals, but also with my former LWFF + CH pedals setup.
No need to recalibrate though, I just went back to the main menu, went
to the track again and suddenly they worked.
And now I just remember someone with a hyper had the same problem too
in an online session with me.

I see, so I'll hopefully only need DXTweak. I was a bit worried when I read
the Readme.txt (with the warnings and all), but I'm sure I'll figure it out.
It's good to know I can check back with you guys if things get screwed up
though...
Cheers, and happy racing (or flying)!

By the way, does the squashball upgrade apply for the old LWFF pedal-set as
well? I'm going to a friend later, who still has the LWFF (the first one,
with the weak springs).

I think so, allthough I never tried it with the old LWFF. I replaced
those with CH pedals one day later :)

Superb idea, but is there any equivalent that works with Windows XP?
I have a problem with my wheel being slightly off centre in the dead
position, and I was hoping that DXDeadzone would fix it.
Tsunami
You need the new drivers. That was first patched by www.wingmanteam.com and
now it's part of the latest drivers (4.11c I believe).

Thanks Joe,
Where abouts is this setting? I have the latest drivers, but can't
find it in the Profiler. Or am I missing something?

Your welcome Tsunami.
There is no setting for this, the off-center fix is automatic. The original
drivers resulted in the wheel being slightly off=center when connected to
the PC. The patch corrected this automatically and the new drivers now
incorporate this fix so there should be no off-center problems. Is your
wheel still off center after loading the new drivers?
If so, you may need to clear the calibration using a utility file available
at wingmanteam.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply. Yes it is still slightly
off centre. I will have a look at eh wingmanteam site and D/L the
utility today.

They are hand-tuning it in the driver and for whatever can't/won't provide a
centering slider.

Hey, just try it, the worst thing that can happen is that you mess up
your registry, forcing you into a clean install of Windows! :)
