Anyone still having problems with the N4 CD? Sometimes it works and sometimes it takes me a few reboots to get it to run. Any get arounds for this annoying problem. AMD Athlon 1.2, 256 ram NVidia GForce2 GTS 32meg. Creative 52x CDrom Game is patched
Try turning off DMA in you CD player settings. Good luck www.SimBin.com For all your sim needs! "Harry Mailahn" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:qxsQ7.293899$[email hidden]...

Use DDump to make a raw ISO image of the CD and store it on your hard drive. Then use DaemonTools to mount the CD in a Virtual CD-ROM drive. I have close to 60 CD's archived this way and have not found a single Game or other CD that would not work. This is astonishing, free software. Both work fine under Windows XP. -Larry "Harry Mailahn" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:qxsQ7.293899$[email hidden]...

for work with virtual CD-ROM drives use Paragon CD-ROM Emulator 2.0: www.cdrom-emulator.com "Harry Mailahn" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:<qxsQ7.293899$[email hidden]>... > Anyone still having problems with the N4 CD? No need. DaemonTools works perfectly, is free, and does something NO other Virtual CD-ROM Drive software does... It emulates the necessary SecuRom, SafeDisc or LaserLok Copy-Protection so you can run the CD Images Perfectly. Every time. Oh, I forgot to mention one thing. It also works fine with Images stored on your Network Server, if you should happen to have one. I have a 60+ CD JukeBox for the price of a 40GB hard drive :) DaemonTools allows up to 4 virtual CD-ROM Drives at one time. My original CD's have never been safer :) -Larry "Maria" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > for work with virtual CD-ROM drives use Paragon CD-ROM Emulator 2.0: > www.cdrom-emulator.com > > > "Harry Mailahn" <[email hidden]> wrote in messagenews:<qxsQ7.293899$[email hidden]>... > > Anyone still having problems with the N4 CD? It kind of looked like that, but I wasn't sure so I didn't say anything... -Larry "Peter Diedrich" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Not sure whether the latest version of Daemon has a fix for this or not. Operation Flashpoint will not run at all on a PC with Daemon tools installed. -- Ian P <email invalid due to spam> "Larry (The Other Larry)" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:WugR7.1557$[email hidden]... > No need. > > DaemonTools works perfectly, is free, and does something NO other Virtual > CD-ROM Drive software does... > > It emulates the necessary SecuRom, SafeDisc or LaserLok Copy-Protection so > you can run the CD Images Perfectly. Don't have that one :) I even got GP3 to work, which has some _really_ nasty sector-defects embedded :) It is possible that the developer is doing a "Daemon-Check", which is truly dirty, under-handed pool IMHO if that 's the case.. Hell, we're just trying to use our stuff as provided for under the Fair Use Doctrine... It's also possible that the game doesn't like CD-ROM Drive Letters that aren't the _lowest_ lettered drives. I remember Test Drive 5 has this problem. One thing I can tell you will NOT run right with DaemonTools activated is any PowerQuest product Windows EXE (specifically, DriveImage 5 or PartitionMagic 7). I believe the drive scan it does on startup is what snags it. Simply right-clicking on the DT Icon and Exiting is enough to take care of the problem though. The above PowerQuest issue is the only one I've ever had. -Larry "Ian P" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:9v5ouu$6ng$[email hidden]...

The game would just crash straight back to the desktop for me. Uninstalling Daemon tools solved it for me. On one of the Daemon forums (I think) there were numerous discussions about it, maybe they have solved the problem with the later releases (I was using daemon 247). I no longer use Daemon or OFP though so I can't say. -- Ian P <email invalid due to spam> "Olav K. Yes. It creates a virtual CD-ROM Drive, letter and all. Since I always have an image loaded anyway, it's fine by me that it's there all the time. -Larry "EldredP" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > In article <9v5ouu$6ng$[email hidden]>, "Ian P"<[email hidden]>

Well, I have Daemon 2.88 and it's a few weeks old :) 247 is quite old, I think. Hold on... I'll go check the latest version... Good a time as any... Ok, I'm back... 11/09/2001 - DAEMON Tools 2.88 Still the same. -Larry "Ian P" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:9v8ehr$583$[email hidden]...
