I have a friend with an almost identical system to mine. the two main
differances are he has a Geforce 2 MX video card and a Sound Blaster live
5.1 sound card compared to my GF2 GTS and Philips AE sound card. When he
runs GPL he will get a CTD when the pit board comes out. Sometimes he gets 3
or 4 laps in and has it come upa few times, but when it does crash it always
seems to be when the pit board would be coming out. I don't have this
problem and exept for those 2 parts are systems are exatcly the same
hardware wise. Is this a problem with the GF2 MX cards? We are both running
the same driver versions as well as DX 8.1. Any ideas?

Assuming that you both are running the the d3d patch, the pitboard and GF2
shouldn't be a problem. He may have another issue hiding underneath, like
sblive compatibility or AGP setting in the bios. Go for updated drivers on
both the sound card and vid card. Take the case off and blow a fan in to
test if heatbuildup is the issue. and keep asking questions til somebody
finds the problem.

His bios settings match mine and we are both running 21.88 drivers. The
22.xx up drivers have been nothing but problems so far. Its not a heat
related problem because if he turns of the pit board it plays for as long as
he wants. Of course he has no idea were he is at. He has the latest SB Live
drivers as well :(
Thanks

Try the 23.11 drivers, first off.
And it's not a native MX issue, my MX200 and MX boxes work fine.

I had the same problems with my GF2 GTS when I updated the drivers. GPL was
the only game that was affected. Can't remember which version it was (I was
trying a few to improve F1 2001). All games etc work fine now with the
23.11 drivers.

The GPLEA Ferrari works just fine, but the Lotus still caused the problem.
So we found another Lotus and all is well now.
thanks

Glad you at least figured out the cause...perhaps you could leave a post
over at GPLEA's site or wherever the JF carset originated and see if they
are aware of the problem.

was one file to download but you had to copy and paste from a bunch of sub
folders because it was more of a collection of other peoples work and that
way they got proper credit. He also said there was a yellow ferrari at the
site as well.
sorry.
