GPL on an athelon1700 through a gforce2 mx400 Stutters

anyone have this problem and know how to fix this please ! i have an amd1700 geforce2mx400 512 ram and an msi motherboard . i run gpl and after 1 or 2 laps i get a stutter in the game for about 3 to6 seconds then its fine again untill another 2 or 5 laps then the same thing! anyone here know how to fix this please appreciate it ! i have tried a few drivers - but have gone back to standard card cdrom drivers for now and updated directx 8 to 8.1 but still same stutter ! help !!!!!!!! :)

I got this on my Guillemot Fortissimo sound card (with amd + geforce 2). It was the sound card drivers. I know its an unlikely source, but it did the trick for me. All the best, Ash falcon wrote:

Do you have an internal soundcard? Even if its disabled I think it still can mess things up. There is a patch for via motherboards to stop "popping" with sb live cards. I tried it at the same time as the new drivers, it could have been the solution All the best, Ash falcon wrote:

Hmmm, how about via 4-in-1 drivers? Have you got the latest? There was also an IDE / PCI latency patch for Via chipsets....that might do some good. How about power management? Have you turned it off in BIOS (APCI??) have you turned it off in windows? Have you turned off the screensaver? If you are using ME / XP / 2k(???) have you turned off autorecovery?
