I play mainly driving/racing games (Rally Masters, GPL, GP3, MBTR, MCM2,
Insane.....in the near future, hopefully F1 2001) where high frame rates
translate to improved handling. I've been running a GF2MX 32MB card
(came with the computer) and it just barely gets the job done on most
games I play. I currently have to significantly reduce resolution and image
quality in most racing titles until I can get my FPS up to 50 or 60+.
With my P3 866 processor, is there video card upgrade that would offer
me a significant increase in performance?
I've heard some people suggest that without a more powerful processor,
upgrading to the latest GF3, for instance, is overkill.
TIA, Steve
True a GF3 would be overkill on a P3 86 but a GF2 Ultra should be about
right and should run things real well.

Overkill ? ? ?
When I can run F12001 at 1600x1200x32x100hz at over 60fps all the way around
the track with 21 other cars, and all turned up at full detail with AA,
ansitropic....
...I wonder if the game runs at 1900x1440 :-)

On a P3 866??? I doubt it.
I agree with Maddawg, a GF2 Ultra would be a good match. But a GF3 or
Radeon 8500 would be a good investement if you're considering
upgrading your CPU /MOBO combo in the near future.
