I was racing at vroc when I noticed the resistance on the brake pedal of my
upgraded performance pedals was decreasing and I wasn't able to lock my
wheels anymore.
When I pressed the brake with my hand it just snapped.
Why do they use plastic shafts for a pedal who has to substain such
pressures?
I've had it for about a month and it's already broken.
I wonder if there are more people who had that? I wouldn't be surprised
really.
I'm pretty sure Actlabs will solve my problem but I hope I won't be back
with another broken one within the month!
Please Actlabs, I hope you guys figure out a fix for it.
Luckily there's a spare pedal on them, so I can continue racing. ;)

I don't know for sure whether this is applicable to anyone under this
string......that's not my point anyway.
Recently I was contacted by someone (well known in the VROC sim community)
who had been given a set of the new Act Lab pedals. He didn't care for
them.....he did like their wheel and wanted to keep it, but was searching
for alternative pedal set (and was asking me some questions about the BRD
pedals). This doesn't mean the Act Labs pedals aren't good....its just one
person's like or dislike of them. But, as I read this post and the
following strings, with this recent "email" in mind....it occurred to me
that many of the sim community members have been given "sim equipment" - its
not just Act Labs who does this - in order to promote the product(s).
That's a perfectly legitimate thing for a company to do (IMHO). What I
would like to see is every sim community member who "talks up or recommends"
a product they've been given for free by the company to do just that.....at
least say so as a form of "disclaimer" at the end of their
post/recommendation. That doesn't "discredit" the recommendation.....it
just puts the proper light on it.....IMHO.
I suppose this will need to be something of a "voluntary" thing with the sim
community members who've been given equipment. I'd like to see the other
sim equipment manufacturers do something like we will be doing with anyone
we sponsor equipment to. That is, included in our written sponsor agreement
will be a statement that "requires" the user/sponsoree to disclose that fact
in any recommendation they make in a sim community newsgroup or
public/private forum about our products.
I don't know if Ed or rrevved have been sponsored a set of Act Lab pedals or
not.....nor am I saying they'd recommend them only on that basis. I doubt
they would and I'm not questioning their integrity on the matter. What I am
saying is, let's say we've been given something for free....when we
recommend it publicly. I think that on the contrary, it lends credibility
to your statement about the product, not discredits it.
Just my "thoughts" on the topic as I first read this post/string.

Tom

You mean like you and BRD Tom?
;-)
Seriously tho.... Like my press release (posted 5-6 months ago) said,
Act-Labs Ltd. sponsored my ESCORS-car with a GPL USB-shifter... These
pedals on the other hand is something I've bought for very own my hard
earned cash and that I've had sent half the way around the globe (at a cost
greater than the pedals (sadly)). I just received them some weeks ago and I
love them. Compared to the old MSFF pedals they got much better feel and
"bite"
There are however, also things I think could have been improved - just like
there is with everything. *Nothing* is perfect :-) Compared to what other
pedals I've had or seen out there tho - these Act-labs items rocks.

lol...."yes Ed"....like me and BRD.
I think its pretty general knowledge that we have had a relationship with
BRD that goes back several years......but even still, I try to say "we are a
dealer for BRD" when ever I recommend their stuff....or talk about it. I
may have forgotten a few times....but I think those would be in the minority
of circumstances.
I want to make sure you know I didn't mean to single you out on my post
above. In fact, from memory I was pretty sure you had not been "sponsored"
a set of Act Lab pedals. But, it was your post that reminded me of the
"issue"....so that's the only reason I responded to it. I hope that's "ok"
with you?
I have not tried the new Act Lab pedals myself yet (but I have already
purchased their GPL USB shifter....like 8 times).....but the majority of
people I've talked to who are using them....say they "like them." That's
certainly a vote in favor of the pedals. I personally just don't like any
pedals that are designed to be used from a sitting position....like in a
desk chair. But, that's a personal preference.......not applicable to most
sim racers I'd think?

Tom

I find it amusing that you didn't even nominate your BRD connection in your
first post on this topic, although you alluded to it.

Which TSW set are you comparing them to? What benefits did you see with the
ACT-Labs over the TSW?

I missed the part where you had relevent information about the question that
was asked. Maybe I can help some. Most of you probably don't know me but
I've had the chance to use the ACT LAB clutch system and was thoroughly
impressed with their performance. I can't say how well they would hold up
but I'm sure that if they don't we'll all know pretty quick. If they do
break that may help them fix any flaws there may be. BTW, the BRD pedals
look awesome but they are kind of pricey.
