do you think we'll see this anytime soon? it really spoils the game somewhat for me, as I normally race with two friends on a LAN, and it's just not that much fun with only three cars on the track. :( it really is a blast in single player, though... -- Gunnar #31 SUCKS#015 Tupperware MC#002 DoD#0x1B DoDRT#003 DoD:CT#4,8 Kibo: 2 DE RECTIS NON TOLERANDUM EST
I emailed ISI about f12001 multiplayer, and they said that unfortunately there will be no more patches. We have 4-5 guys in a full GP LAN sometimes, but we havent had a suitable game since Monaco GP 2 :(. Hopefully F12002 will have it. Getting AI to run and in fact improving the horrid multiplayer section would take an entire rewriting of thier multi code base. I don't think you will be seeing that. My guess is they are hard at work on F1 2002 so you will see zero more enhancements for 2001. Since CompUSA has 2001 on sale this week, I would suspect they are clearing the retail channels for the next version. However, we have seen NO indication of new features for 2002. I would suspect that only a complete implementation of multiplayer improvements in GP4 would convince EA to spend the development cash on creating a working multiplayer. so the short answer is NO!! dave henrie "Gunnar Horrigmo" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

I'll probably get flamed for this, but I get a feeling that developers are more and more in it for the money, push their games out the door as fast as possible, and basically think "screw'em, take the money and run". where's the idealism these days? I'm not surprised, though, when I here of advances with 7 zeroes. -- Gunnar #31 SUCKS#015 Tupperware MC#002 DoD#0x1B DoDRT#003 DoD:CT#4,8 Kibo: 2 silence is FOO!
I wouldn't count on it. EA has never cared about improving their multi in any of their racing games. True story, belive it or not: Several years back, Nascar Revolution came out. I gave it a shot(sooner or later, there'll be life after Papy<G>), when I heard via their board that they were going to get the multi going on it, as at the time, it was pretty much just like F1 2001's multi; lousy. So, there's a big announcement on the board via a few EA reps/moderators that on x night, everyone give it a try in the software EA had setup. I was quite hopefull, showed up at the tick of the clock when the software was available. You went into a WON type setup/chat room. I get there, and there's three of the above EA reps/moderators chatting to each other, and they didn't notice I was in the chat room too. One of them, who shall go unnamed, literally says, "I'm changing my screen name so I don't get bugged with a bunch of questions when this doesn't work." The others decided to do the same. Eventually, a bunch more folks show up. No one is able to get the multi to work.........but meanwhile, these three EA boys, each not using their regular name, are jumping in an out of races they've "created", saying how great it is, fun race, etc. The EA software link lasted about a week or so, and then was taken down since it never worked. Anyway, I wouldn't count on EA doing any improvements re multiplayer :) True story. -John Ashley McConnell <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

I'd agree with that. Have to say that I don't think idealism was ever in the industry; it won't last long in any marketplace :) Personally, I equate the software industry a LOT with the US auto industry of the 70's. American cars then were by and large junk; you just knew you had a lemon coming off the showroom floor. Then Japanese imports started.......high quality Japanese imports. What happened? The US auto industry had to rise to the challenge; improve or die. The same needs, and I bet will, happen with the entertainment software industry(not that the Japanese will do something, but you get the point<G>) Right now, as in the case above, there's no need for them to improve. There's no competition, there's no accountability for shoddy work. How many here have said, "I'll never buy a title from X company again".........only to do so? Software's released buggy as hell, and it's accepted. It's even becoming accepted to not expect a patch. Let's just hope when it does happen, we don't have to bail out X software company like we did Chrysler, because they made lousy products and start whining woe is me.<G> -John Gunnar Horrigmo <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

No more patches? Anyone want a barely used copy of F1 2001? Warning: Not for use with split-axis controllers... Jason Ashley McConnell <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:<[email hidden]>...

F12001 works fine with my Logitech Momo in split axis. Don Burnette "jason moyer" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

I can't speak for other wheels, but with an MS wheel there are 50% deadzones and changing the calibration values in dxtweak in order to fix it doesn't causes weird miscalibration issues. If someone has managed to remove the deadzones, please let me know. Otherwise I'm just waiting for GP4. Jason "Don Burnette" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:<gs428.351638$[email hidden]>...

Jason, I've got rid of the deadzones using my MSPW and MSFF wheels. You need to set it up in the game Under controller settings set Speed sensitivity 10% Then in controller 1 set up X axis sensitivity 30% Y axis sensitivity 100% RZ axis sensitivity 100% Then use DX Tweak to set the values for Y and RZ so that the centre calibration is 62 ie full depress = 0, full release = 63 so set the centre value to 62. -- Ian P <email invalid due to spam> "jason moyer" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > I can't speak for other wheels, but with an MS wheel there are 50% > deadzones and changing the calibration values in dxtweak in order to > fix it doesn't causes weird miscalibration issues. Thanks for the info Ian. That sounds pretty close to what I've tried but I'll give it a go... Jason "Ian P" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:<a2bnrp$jqk$[email hidden]>...

One thing I forgot, you will need to set the range for the X axis in DX tweak as well as for the pedals. I can't remember the exact values, but I think it was 0 - 512 - 1024. If you don't do this it will probably cause calibration errors. -- Ian P <email invalid due to spam> "jason moyer" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > Thanks for the info Ian.
