Question about yellow flags and pace car speed in N2002 or N4

Is there a way to decrease the minimum number of laps that the pace car will stay on the track from two to one lap? I just seems that usually a crash has been removed from the track but the pace car stays out on the track another lap (which lasts forever on tracks like Daytona and Talladega). Also is there ini file setting for increasing the speed of the pace car under yellow. If the pace car would drive little bit faster, I could live with the number of laps that the pace car is out on the track. Please don't tell me to learn how to drive and avoid the yellow flags in the first place. :-) We are starting a small, new league and the majority of drivers are beginners. Thank you in advance. E.

Well I believe its based more on the fact that in game the wreck are magically cleaned up. Another thing to keep in mind is pit stops. if you eliminated one lap you would screw over the guys that a down a lap or more because they can't pit the first time by. Now as far as the pace car speed goes that might be do-able. MadDAWG

Yes there is-you'll find it if you open the track.ini file-"pace speed limit". If you want to have a lot of fun, you can set the pit road limit to something like 300 MPH-of course then the AI will wreck each other whenever they enter the pits... JD
Don't know about changing the number of laps. I think it is randomly determined by the game engine. You can change the speed of the pace car in the track.ini file, but I've never tried changing it to see if it actually works. The setting is "pace_speed_limit_mph = " in the [ ai_track ] section in N4. I don't have NR2002 handy, but I imagine it is the same there. Encourage the drivers in your league to practice as much as possible, not only offline, but especially online with other league members. If you have more than about 10 drivers, you might try splitting the field up and run a couple of heat races, then the main event. Less cars on the track will tend to reduce the frequency of yellows. Or, you can try to get by without yellows until your members have gained some experience. Make sure everyone knows how to wreck: "if you spin, both feet in." i.e. disengage the clutch and lock up the brakes. A spinning car will behave much more predictably when the driver does this, and it lets other folks have a better chance of avoiding trouble. Then after the spinning car has come to a stop, mandate that the driver MUST call a tow truck. This gets crippled cars out of the way, and also gives the driver a chance to reflect on what they just did wrong. HTH, Gerald [email hidden] (E. P.) wrote in message news:<[email hidden]>...

Follow up on my other reply to this post: Fixed setups and weather are your friends - at least until your members get plenty of seat time. Gerald [email hidden] (E. P.) wrote in message news:<[email hidden]>...
