Nascar 2002 - GeForce 3 - 27.42 fixed my fps

Nvidia 27.42 drivers boost NR2002 framerates

Claude Leclerc reported a 10 fps gain in NR2002 after a clean install of Nvidia's 27.42 Detonator drivers, and others shared similar gains. Setting texture quality to 100 in player.ini fixed blurry OpenGL textures. Some reported that the drivers broke Medal of Honor, PowerDVD or other games, or caused blue screens on XP.

It might be that my drivers needed a cleanup but after removing my older drivers (Hercules latests 21.81) and installing the latest Detonator 27.42 I got the +10 fps that I needed. I gain also +2fps in F1-2001. System : T-Bird 1.4 with KT133A, Win98se. I tested most drivers and always reverted back to 21.81 because of different problems or 3DMark was better but fps in games was worst. For the moment 27.42 is a keeper for me. It fixed it for me, might not for you...

I miss stuff too sometimes Mike, but in his system spec line he says Win98SE, hehe. I wonder about Win XP Pro myself, anyone? Whats best in Xp Pro with a 'plain' old GF3. You guys are using OpenGL for graphics right? Huge increase in framerate. It seems to follow desktop color depth so make sure you're at 16-bit unless you've got a monster box. I was able to get NR2002 to give me over 40fps pretty much everywhere at 1600x1200x16 with OpenGL on my 1Ghz Dell (GeForce3 Ti200). - David Cook "Mike Grandy" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:Rpad8.111028$[email hidden]... > What operating system. > > "Claude Leclerc" <[email hidden]> wrote in message > news:Qmad8.13805$[email hidden]... > > It might be that my drivers needed a cleanup but after removing my older > > drivers (Hercules latests 21.81) and installing the latest Detonator27.42

Max World and car detail. Max mirror details, Max trackside details,. 80% draw ahead, 15 cars ahead, 5 behind and every option EXCEPT skids, steering wheel, and anisotropic filtering using FSAA 2x in OpenGL. I am hoping the "OpenGL Texture compression" patch will help it out. In N4 with the exact same setup I get 80-90 FPS in OGL... I can't figure why anisotropic filtering is such a FPS hit in 2002. I have tried it at 2x, 4x, and 8x with nothing but FPS hits and it doesn't look any better?? FSAA 4x makes it look pretty good but knocks the FPS to around 40 with the same detail level.
I'm on XP Pro, so far I've had BSOD with everything but the 22.80's. I've tried all the latest drivers and some pre 22.80. I could be wrong and something else is causing the dump, I just don't know yet. When I've tried OpenGL on my GF3 Ti200, it looks horrible. Sure, it's smooth as glass, but the textures are all blurry and the graphics suck. Is this the bug you speak of? I switched to 27.42 as well. About a 20fps improvement over everything else I have tried. Now I get about 55fps in D3D at 1028x764x32. OGL on my system is about 10 fps lower. I do run at 32 bit color. I have everything on except mirror detail, which is medium. No anisotropic filtering either. I can't tell any difference in quality, but FPS goes down by about 10 with it on. The other thing about 27.42 is these drivers seem free of all the weird sound bugs, mouse slowdowns, etc. that have plagued other "XP" versions I have tried. AMD Athlon 1.4 TBird, Gainward "Golden Sample" GF3, no O/C. Win98SE. Gerald "SimRacer" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:<pjcd8.26532$[email hidden]>...

27.42 drivers are great for N4 and NR2002 but be careful if you plan to play Medal of Honor AA. You will get the "can't load openG subsystem" message and won't be able to start the game. I had to go back the official NVidia drivers (23.11) to start MOHAA. Cheers Eckblad

The water looked fine in my older drivers. Using XPpro so just rolled back the old ones.
I now find that the 27.42 drivers break PowerDVD. Grrr... At least the Detonator Destroyer utility seems to do a good job making switching among various versions a relatively painless (if still unreasonably time consuming) prospect. I just have to plan an extra 5 or 10 minutes getting ready for "Movie Night"... Another annoying thing about 27.42 is the stupid "desktop explorer" applet it dumps on your desktop. The 12.xx drivers that came with my card have worked with everything, but are a bit slow for NR2002.
