Ok, I can't be the only one that's noticed this... Whether the AI decides to swing down low entering a turn really seems to be tied to the spotter. In other words, when I go under a car to pass entering a corner, if I have NOT heard my spotter say "Car High", it's all over. I might as well slam on the brakes because the AI bonehead is going to come down on me for sure. If I manage to get a "Car High" before that point, the AI car will hold it's line or wiggle up a bit. If this is the case, this was a TERRIBLE design decision. Other than that, it's all good :) -Larry
You're not the only one that noticed that. But I've gotten used to it now. I just know that if my spotter is not saying "Car High" then the AI's spotter is not saying "Car Low" and he will come down. If I'm attempting to pass and I don't hear that, I back off. If I do hear it, I stay the course. Makes some sense. If you don't hear "car high" then the game logic has not yet figured out that you are attempting a pass, and therefore the AI has no reason to believe it can't go low. Also explains why I never seem to get away with that, even though I have seen my son do it over and over again. Guess I'll have to pay more attention next time. ;o) "Jim Tester" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:a63i1i$gt2$[email hidden]... > You're not the only one that noticed that. well I would assume that the signal of car position to trigger the spotter would be the same to trigger whatever the AI car is going to do.. "Don Jennings" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:cUch8.8879$[email hidden]...

Yes, I have noticed that too. They also get you entering the dogleg at Atlanta (when they do the Dogleg Dance). I guess it's like Nascar Heat - you have to learn in what circumstances the AI will wreck/run over you, and avoid them. -- Doug Appleyard To reply, myname is dougappleyard -------------------- http://NewsReader.Com/ -------------------- Usenet Newsgroup Service

Sounds about right to me. About the same time your spotter is warning you about the AI, the AI's spotter is warning him about you. :-) What's the problem there? -- Fester "Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar." -- Julius Caesar
I have not really seen the problem if I am on their tail and show myself to the inside before the corner. Since the AI always do a brake and turn entry they are susceptible to a hard entry, assuming you can make it stick. I have dove under and AI car and braked hard slowing down too much and the AI has driven around me on the outside. I find that if I dart under AI from too great a distance behind, and/or do not show myself to the inside before the more they will move down like a normal turn entry. I have moved under the AI mid corner when they push up some and saw the car start to try and move back down but then notice I was there and twitch back into the outside line. I have noticed our spotter will say, car inside, when the AI is really on my tail but showing themself inside my line. At least that is what I believe is happening with our spotter. The AI "spotter" may be giving the same clues to the AI when we show ourselves. I have noticed that when I pass coming off a corner but do not complettely clear the AI car by next turn entry and I have a late turn entry, the AI car on the outside start its turn in "normally", as I should have been doing, and I get hit since I was still going straight or mostly so. I assume this is erratic driver fault on my part due to a poor late turn entry since I was pushing it down the straight to clear the AI car. The AI is trying to run the corner side by side with me and I was not acting "normal". I think this is a reasonable assumption of the AI. It does have to keep an eye out in case I start pushing up. If I push up slowly they move up the track with me. How this different than racing multiplayer? With skilled drivers, that is... Jason
This is a new thing with NR2002. N4 was still a bit brain-dead in this area, but not like this It needs to be fixed... -Larry "Haqsau" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:a63igi$bligs$[email hidden]...

Except true-life doesn't have to figure in spotter lag. -Larry "Don Jennings" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:cUch8.8879$[email hidden]...
