I am trying to setup a simple ftp on my system here (just for fun really) But I am on DSL with a router/firewall and I cant seem to make it accesable :( I have added a remote server option and opened a port etc... but maybe Im just missing something.. any help would be apreciated!! Blake
What port/s did you open. I think you have to open 20 and 21 IIRC. well I have a few Proggie (ftp servers) and they all give the option to choose any port you want so I juts made sure they were the same, Ive tried using ports allready open and tried opening new ones... I know you have to make it a remote addserver not just open a port........... "Bob Fellenbaum" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

I have a Windows 2000 Server box at home that I run an FTP server on. I was unable to get it to work thru my Linksys router on any port other than 21. I don't think the router is sophisticated enough to allow FTP thru non-standard ports. I had no problem making it work without going thru the router but just couldn't get any other ports to work thru it. I was trying to set up multiple FTP sites using different ports, but I just ended up using 1 FTP site with multiple permissions. did you still have to open/forward the port in the router? "Bob Fellenbaum" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:3c869126$[email hidden]...
