I'm sorry I can't help with the prob, I can only contribute the info that I've accessed the Pits almost every day recently (at least their news page to check for news) and never had a prob. Achim "rb" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:qRAh8.41453$[email hidden]...

Whoa! I had this same problem two weeks ago... And it snowballed into a BIG problem. I'll save you the endless posts and FOUR tech support calls to your ISP. It's your dial-up access number. I'm on Mindspring/Earthlink. I got the same thing. Two out of four tech support personnel couldn't pull up bhmotorsports or the uspits either. And their tech support is spaced nationwide. Seattle could not, Atlanta could, etc... Eventually, I figured that if my roommate could pull it up with a Mac/Netscape, yet the same ISP, there was a difference. Access number! I hope that I helped you with your problem, because I exhausted all options two weeks ago. And I emailed bhmotorsports to tell them the problem. (Though it's not with them) Now, with a different number, I have no problem. But, it hasn't been explained to my satisfaction. Good luck... ________________________________ "rb" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:qRAh8.41453$[email hidden]...

Good news... I had the same problem. Everybody thought that I didn't know how to use Windows!?!?? Luckily, in NYC, I have about 40 numbers to choose from. If you only have one, you might be up a creek. Earthlink knew of NO way to solve the problem. Bhmotorsports and the USpits are on the same server in Finland. So, it might be worse for you. Tech support (on the second call) suggested that they changed their DNS record on 2/14. BH said that they haven't altered their records in two years... On and on it goes... Try to get another access number. Failing that, work more in-depth with tech support. ...then, I guess, take your money elsewhere... it was the next-to-the-last option that I had to resort to. _______________________________________________ "rb" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:ceFh8.42565$[email hidden]...

thnx for the help again..... i used my roomates system, she's with prodigy and got right on both sites. i'm now wondering how many 404's i get aren't really 404. have emailed them but it'll probably be an isp switch for me.... everytime they've talked to me before, it's been all that stuff you give to folk who can barely turn the system on. again, thanx for restoring my faith in myself......didn't once consider the isp... rob
Try pinging the URL, or do a tracert on it (see your Windows Help for directions). Most likely it isn't the dial-up number, but the routing the ISP is using. A lot of routes have changed lately with @home going bye-bye and others assuming the accounts. I have a friend who couldn't get to his hosted web site because the routing changed, and until he screamed bloody murder and kept escalating the problem from one supervisor to another, no one realized certain "paths" hadn't been picked up. -- Chris H. No dice.........I'm on cable so that isn't the problem in my case anyway. Wag "Glaspak" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:a676ar$cbq$[email hidden]... Whoa! I don't know whether it's something similar, but there was a time last year when I couldn't access the Teamfriendship pages. AAMOF, several Europeans couldn't. I never found out what caused it, but there seemed to be the only common link that we were in Europe. So maybe, like someone else in this thread suggests, it had indeed something to do with form where you call or dial in. well, for some reason earthlink only publishes one access number on their support site for little rock but when you bitch, they allows as to how they have others. i guess that's good, the others are a tad bit faster and probably not as busy. i have to say, they responded quickly. thnx for yr help Glaspak and hope you get there, wag! rob

When companies add telephone lines, they try NOT to let the previous users know about it. That way new users get less busy signals and have fewer complaints and get comfortable and stay...even if later on there are more busy signals... dave henrie
