Hi all! I tested N2002 on both systems. At XP i get a poor fps at max 18 fps (anything on) and at WIN98SE i get 60+ with the same settings. Every test runs on D3D in 1024x768. Athlon 1.2 Ghz Geforce 2 GTS 32 MB DDR (drivers 11.83 for both systems) ASUS A7V133 with 256 MB SDRAM (latest BIOS) SBLIVE Player 5.1 (and the sound rocks at both systems, crystal-clear) Any ideas why N2002 runs so poor at XP? regards, Wolfgang

I would think your drivers have been optimized for win98 and haven't been fully tested in XP. dave henrie
use newer drivers for XP........ "Wolfgang Kronthaler" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Try different video card drivers. And OpenGL is much faster on Geforce cards anyway. With the right drivers you should be able to get virtually identical framerates. -- Biz "Don't touch that please, your primitive intellect wouldn't understand alloys and compositions and,......things with molecular structures,....and the....." - Ash Wolfgang Kronthaler <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > Hi all! > > I tested N2002 on both systems. I agree you need to run the newest drivers by the manufacturer of vid card not the generic one installed by winxp... I actually gained some where in the order of 5 frames per sec when I put on xp. --plowboy "Wolfgang Kronthaler" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Also consider fixing your page file at 1X to 1.5X the amount of installed RAM. Consider disabling hard drive indexing unless you do a ton of searches on your local machine. Consider disabling ACPI so that all your hardware devices aren't on 1 IRQ. Update the video drivers to the 20+ series, I find that 23.11 works best on my AMD 1.2 machine with a GF3 and XP Pro. Definitely ditch D3D, OpenGL is far superior to *most* people's machines, mine included. Don't compare Win98/ME to Win2k/XP. The former are Wins-over-DOS, the latter is WinNT 5.0 and 5.1 respectively and should be treated as the different animals that they are. Try here for some good info: www.tweakxp.com Good luck.
Because XP stinks :) -John "Wolfgang Kronthaler" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

It may not smell like roses John, but it sure fixed all my BSODs that lovely Win98SE gave me, and XP can shut down everytime too, hehe. (mild reference to the obviously Asian descendant Hung Shutdown, lol) John is right though, XP is high maintenance to get working right, but is rock solid once it is. I am still waiting on the OpenGL texture compression patch and yet I still have NR2002 nearly up to N4 FPS without it, using the exact same machine (with Win XP Pro).
I have been using XP on my home box (and N2002 server) since October with no complaints. MUCH better than 98SE or ME, IMO. -Paul Eigsti -League & Server admin Western States Racing League www.wsrlracing.com My e-mail address is false. Please reply to this news group. But also the Detonator 27.50 hasnt improved the fps of N2002. But i am happy that in works perfect at Win98SE. Thanks to all postings, finally they helped me finding that tweakxp page :) regards, Wolfgang
