Heckler ? 08 Mar 2002 21:26 UTC#131293
I've been trying to get F1 2001 running with the 2002 update pack released recently. Originally I had hoped to create a separate config and season folder so I could run them independently of each other. I've tried everything I can think of, made a copy of the config.ini changed the lines I neede to point to the new season02 folder, created a new shortcut to the exe file and edited that to point to the new config02.ini file. I can get the game to start, but all it does is run the graphics set-up program and then runs the default F1 2001 config. So I'm stumped how to get it to work independently of each other. So I've installed the update patch 2 and I'm contemplating installing the 2002 pack and replacing the original files with the new ones. Any problems with this so far? Any problems I can expect with the new 2002 files and the GT v2 mod? Heckler -- www.house-of-heckler.fsnet.co.uk Mr Flibble is Dead Long Live Heckler Replace COM with CO.UK to reply

I've managed to get this working properly. You do it in exactly the same way as the GT mod. First, copy the entire Season01 folder to Season02. Next copy Save to Save02, Options to Options02 and VCR to VCR02. Next, copy config.ini to config02.ini. Edit config02.ini, replacing the top section with the following: [COMPONENTS] SEASONDIR=SEASON02\ SOUNDDIR=SOUNDS\ OPTIONSDIR=OPTIONS02\ REPLAYDIR=VCR02\ MOVIEDIR=ANIM\ TRACKSDIR=TRACKS\ VEHICLESDIR=VEHICLES\ DRIVERSDIR=DRIVERS\ LOGDIR=LOG02\ SAVEDIR=SAVE02\ MUSICDIR=SOUNDS\MUSIC\ Next, create a shortcut to F1_2001.exe calling it F1 2002. Right click on the shortcut and choose Properties from the pop-up menu. Click on the Shortcut tab and set Target to be "E:\Race Sims\F1 2001\f1_2001.exe" config=config02.ini. Change E:\Race Sims\F1 2001 to the folder where F1 2001 is installed on your PC. Finally double click on the shortcut to run F1 2001 using the new config. I suggest you visit http://f12001.maxrevs.gamigo.de/dl_misc.shtml for menu art and driver updates for your new installation. You can also download 2002 car shapes and textures from this excellent website. Cheers Phil --- Racesim Central Administrator http://www.racesimcentral.com
