Out of the blue I get this message 'no Dx8 compliant accelerator ' (so similar)
in F1 2001. Just like trying with a V3.
The same problem I have in 3Dmark 2001 and RT
DX8.1 is installed and seems to be allright, latest nvidia drivers are installed
(tried older drivers too).
Anybody got an idea?
TIA

if this will help. find and run dxdiag.exe there is a screen there to
test your direct draw and direct 3d. Now to the left of each test button is
a toggle button to enable or disable the direct draw and direct3d.
However the button labels may be counter-intuitive. When the option is
turned on, the button will read 'disable' and when the option is off(and
this would be why F1 2001 can't find a direct x adapter) the button reads
enable. Thus the buttons don't display which toggle option is active but
rather which option will be in force IF you press it. Good luck.

Just go: C:\ProgramFiles\directx\setup\DxDiag.lnk
Display\Direct3D set disable and then back enable...or reboot and then set
enable...
...that works to me...

found the problem.
The path you mentioned was not existing from setup downwards. So I suspected a
damaged installation. Windows still recognized the installation as intact and
didn't perform a re-install (although pretending to)
I used DXbuster to remove Directx and reinstalled 8.0a.
Everything's fine now :-)
