Or even lame as jackass shit! err -poop! There's a lot of
these going around, I fell into one in another group.
Thought it was a bit odd that the virus message came had
Microsoft on it instead of Norton, so I dismissed it as a
gag. Thanks for the reassurance, Troy.

So there's no virus in it? That scared the sh!t out of me, I'm at work
in my new job and having a virus would be so embarrasing.
How do I disable HTML in Netscape Newsgroups? I've got all the plain
text options ticked in the Formatting, always have had...

To reply, use ramva at clarebear dot co dot uk
Clare, the plain text stuff is in formatting for greating outgoing
messages.
what you want to do is disable java scripting, etc....
go to edit -> preferences -> advanced
and take the check out of "enable javascript for mail and news".
Cheers,

WinXP pro, all updates, OE, with tight security,
McAfee 6.02 updated.
Those type of post are lame azz scares for users that don't update their
software.
And BSOD's for the Win98 crowd.

Daytona Beach - Winter Speed Carnival 1903 - 1935
1919 - Ralph DePalma Driving Champion and winner of hundreds of races, sets
new 1 mile record driving 905 cubic inch V-12 Packard on beach at 149.875
mph. DePalma also sets World Records for distances of 2 to 20 miles and
standing mile. His standing mile record of 92.713 mph is unbroken for 36
years.
Ralph DePalma was also the only driver ever to have started the Indy 500 by going across the Start/Finish line backwards - and went on to win in 1915. I don't recall the exact details, but there was a mechanical problem so he had to start in reverse.

B*st*rds - haven't been caught by one of them for ages, and then
this one makes me three-finger-salute OE three times from two
different ngs!
How do I disable it in OE? I must be having brainfade - I can't
find the option.

Yea I thought I've heard of something like that, way before my time.
My Dad use to tell me stories of when he was a teenager in Detroit of going
down the street to Ralph Depalma's Garage and watch the mechanics "Shave
Bearings" to get extra speed.
Barney Oldfield is another old racers name he use to bring up.
As a young child he said he went to Indy a couple of times, but was too
young to remember much other than it was a long hard drive to get there. I
think he said my Grand Dad had a Packard around that time, (or someone in
the family) which was pretty ritzy at that time.

DePalma and the legendary Barney Oldfield didn't much like each other. In fact, in 1923, they raced head-to-head, in a special match race with Oldfield winning all three portions. DePalma won a grand total of something like $32,000 in all his years at Indy, including the 1915 win, and pole positions in two other years. In the match races, DePalma drove a mighty Packard, but lost when Oldfield showed up a custom-designed, aluminum-bodied "golden torpedo" which was much lighter than DePalma's ride.
