Stock GPL here on XP in 'Training Mode' - just started :)
Can someone give me an idea of which (or any other) program would allow
me to raise my driving head to 'see' a bit more of the track? Hard to
navigate around Watkins Glen, even though I'm the only car!

If you've just started then the rollbar view might help. Just press F10.

F10 will give you chase view unless you modify an ini file.
GPLSA allows you to raise your head
