Recently my GPL stopped working. When I try to bring it up, the 3DFX logo comes up and goes away (as normal) and then proceeds to do this two more times before the screen goes blank and the computer locks up requiring a hard reboot. The only things I can think of that may have brought this on might be: I loaded a new version of windows media player from a demo disk; I changed the resolution in the GPl graphics option window (I changed it for one player to match the resolution used by the primary player. I don't see how this would effect anything since the higher resolution chosen was already being used successfully). I am guessing that some file got corrupted. I do have a backup folder of GPL on the hard drive. Is there a file I can copy from the backup folder to the primary folder? Or anyone in RAS have any other ideas? PIII450, 320mgs ram, W98SE, Voodoo3 3K, Yamaha OPL3 (not sure which driver) TIA. I miss my GPL. Claude
Not a total solution unless it works, Claude, but I copy GPL's file structure/files off by second hard drive all the time after goofing something up, and it goes right back to working. Works really nice in reformats, too, because I just install the basics, then clone everything over. Give it a try. -- Chris H.
