Hi,
Here some hints to improve the performance of TRD:
- use window mode
- use keys
- use medium detaillevel
- use 16 bit desktop resolution
With these setting it works well on my TB 1400 with GF3.
The damage and driving model is amazing.
Cheers,
Uli

I 'nearly' stopped at the above, didn't go spending hard $$$ on a BRD to go
back to using a keyboard.
> The damage and driving model is amazing.
I got good performance eventually out of my XP 1700 & GF3, driving model
still sucks and felt like a huge step BACKWARDS from TOCA2, not forwards,
granted it's 'only a demo' however it doesn't matter how many times you
polish a turd, it remains a turd, MHO.
Damage model was 'interesting' I've never seen cars with such weak door
latches - if they'd flapped any harder I would have taken off.
All in all I'm going to take a wait & see, who knows how old this demo
really is, however my expectations have taken a nosedive, might pick it up
for a console rather than PC just to run round the old 'Ring when I'm not in
a sim racing mood.

In what way is the driving model amazing?

Please tell me you're being the king of diplomacy and prince of
understatement with that statement, I can hardly contain my revulsion to
this demo.
And to those that state 'It's only a demo' - pass me some of your optimism &
rose tinted glasses my way, Codemasters were happy to see this demo go
public, which really does NOT inspire me.

I am the king of understatement as you suggest ;). I dont want to put it
down *too* much until a real demo comes out, as anything I say against it
will come back 20 fold towards my demo :)

Looks like holding your tongue may have been the best option, this just
posted at the codemasters forum:
--------------------------------------------
The "demo" that is being circulated online for Codemasters' TOCA Race Driver
should be taken as unofficial. Very early demo code produced several months
ago for US long lead-time magazine usage, the code was not intended for
distribution online.
The code is not representative of the current status of the game, nor should
be taken as an example of the finished title, which will be released in
September. It has only experimental car physics, basic AI, the car damage is
an early test model and it will not run on a wide range of machines, as it
is not optimised code.
Codemasters advises all gamers to await the true playable demo. Due this
summer for PC, the official demo will enable players to experience the game'
s dramatic narrative and superlative racing action in a demo that promises
to be an excellent sampler-game complete with a cliff-hanger ending.

Stil seems like a massive case of shooting themselves in the foot, surely
they must have realized that it would spread like wildfire?

They had no choice.

They had no choice.

This has to be the biggest steaming pile that I have downloaded this
year.
I don't know why they 'had no choice' in releasing it ... they simply
shouldn't have. Jeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzuuuuuuuussss, ... going to have to
play GPL now for a good hour or 3 to forgive my sins and forget that I
ever saw it (yes, I thought it was THAT bad!)

Phew.. I downloaded it, but after reading all the reviews I deleted it
before even bothering installing it. Lucky me :)
