Well I've got a spare machine together and as far as I can tell have set it up as a dedicated server for Nascar 2002. It's a P3-550 Coppermine slot one on a VC820 chipset with 256MB of PC600 Rambus. Connection is roadrunner cable modem. My gatway pings are about 7- 9ms rock solid. I haven't looked into the setup, will wait on that until you guy confirm it is working. I've got the ports mapped and it should be up now named, "N2002 RAS OPEN SERVER" with the password of 'ras' Post back if you can or cannot get in! Enjoy if its working! :) jason fagan jason -A-T- jasonfagan -D-O-T- com

I could get in it was set to Chicacoland. It remained in 'setup', i.e. I couldn't get to the track, but I only stayed a minute or so as I'm in a bit of a hurry right now. Seems to be a good connection, too. Just a note, you won't know how good a connection it is until you get it loaded down. A connection that looks great with 5 people can easily dump everyone with 6 or 7. I have seen cable connections that appear to have decent pings hold anywhere between 4 and 30 drivers. Hopefully yours will hold up but just wanted to point that out. Great looks like its running pretty good with up to 15 clients so far. Only using about 10% cpu util and about 1/2 of availible upstream bandwidth with 15 clients. Many people were getting two digit pings on a Richmond race earlier. Cmon over and race guys, the access password is RAS I'm still playing with the settings right now, but i will be switching it over to an 'open server' after this weekend so you guys can pick all the options and kick the idiots. now, go race on my server. it is sweetness :) server name: ras open server password : ras jason fagan jason -A-T- jasonfagan -D-O-T- com

Hey thanks for checking out my server gents. Eldred, for the cpu usage, I just brought the task manager up to processes and sorted the list by cpu time and kept an eye on the 'server.exe' thread. Bandwidth wise, I know that my connection can push exactly 45kB maximum upstream (360kbits/s) and it was using about half that. I run MRTG stats from one of my boxes to spy on all the ethernet stats in a nice graphed html format. I probably shouldn't give out my ip, but look here -> http://24.160.180.82:6000 The N2002 server runs on 'crashbox', the router is 'rasbox' and 'fatman' is my domain controller, dns, and ftp. If you are really interested, read more about those boxes here -> http://www.jasonfagan.com/tech/hardware.html or read more about MRTG stats here -> http://people.ee.ethz.ch/%7Eoetiker/webtools/mrtg/ About the password, this weekend I've had it off and on, been playing around with it with a friend who is new to online racing. I plan to make 'ras' the boss password with no access password. That way it gets some activity from the general racing crowd, but if one of you ras'ers shows up you can keep it clean for me. I've got it in an 8 track loop right now, I'll probably get in the mix here before too long. jason fagan jason -A-T- jasonfagan -D-O-T- com

Cool - I'll have to check out that software. I might even be able to use it for WORK...<g> Eldred -- Homepage - http://www.umich.edu/~epickett A friend of mine is involved in a fund-raiser walk-a-thon for research to cure breast cancer.
