I've got a friend here in the states who ended up with a UK version of GPL.
I love the splash screen! Anyway, the US patch is just a simple program that
quickly updates GPL. The UK patch just seems to unpack GPL files and folders
which I assume are to overwrite the current ones. After doing this, the game
prompts me for the CD. Is this normal? Any help is greatly appreciated.

If it's the budget version, the patch is on the CD.
But yes the UK version needs the CD in the drive although I *think* if
you apply the speed patch then you don't need the CD after that.

I found the patch on the CD. That's weird that the original install would
not need the CD but patching it would change that. I assume the speed patch
is the one for the faster CPU's? Thanks for the info.

Doesn't the US version have one?

Yep - this one just seems different - the logo or something. Anyway, it
rocks.
