This has probably been discussed in one other tread, but I would like
to have this issue as a topic.
Downloaded the demo yesterday and really enjoy it, specially after the
setting the double rate physics. Force Feedback is the best non-papy
FF i've tried so far :) Fluid graphics. I hope they have proper
multiplayer and I will definately buy it.
However, still, i have the "noting happens until 50 % of travel in
split axis" problem on my MSFF (gameport, WinME) Unbelievable. What's
even worse is that in the controller config the red bars that shows
the wheel and pedal input is totally linear. It doesn't make sence,
it's illogical :)
And i also had a good laugh at all the other controller sliders, how
about a "screw all this and let me choose 100% linear like any papy
game" button ?
Speed sensivity, axis sensivity, digital sensivity (that doesn't go
under 10%) I've said it before and I say it again, what's all this
sensivity crap anyway ? It's a word that alters it's meaning from game
to game.
Rant over, multiplayer will be the deciding factor on this one
anyway. :)

Hi there!,
Ok, i will try to answer your questions,
About speedsensitivity, you can see it as the steeringhack in GPL.
If you have speedsensitivity to 100%, the car will steer less when you
driving fast, and when you slow
down, it will steer more. How much it will steer depends on your steering
lock in the setup of the car.
digital sensitiviy do you only need to set if you use a keyboard etc,
otherwise just ignore those.
axis sensitivity is locked, and is the same in all speeds. Im almost
thinking that its a "linear - non linear" slider..
but im not 100% sure. The less you set it at, the less sensitive the
steering will be in game.
If you press the "lock" button on the top, you will move all the sliders at
once.
I use 0% speedsensitivity, and 8% axis-sens. and 0% deadzone. That works
great for my LWFF-GP.

What makes it really insteresting is that in F1 2001, 50 % axis
sensivity should be the same as linear steering, so the big confusion is
still there. I REALLY hate that sensivity word :) Even since C:PR with
two sliders for controller "sensivity" where noone actually were able
to tell what they did, I had problems steering that damned car. But
when I got GPL and N4 and N2002, i set it to 100% linear and I didn't
have to think of that anymore.

The controller sensitivity settings DO really mean linearity, and 50%
equates to 100% linearity in F1-2002, for all axes on the controller 1 and 2
screens. Fiddle with it sitting in the pits and you'll see. (be sure to
watch the wheel movement in-car, not the red bars on the controller setup
screen - THAT doesn't match anything but total travel.) Actually, this
scheme exactly matches the way "sensitivity" works in the Logitech profiler
software, too(which I don't use). Everything on the "controller rates"
screen is just for keyboard users. Feel free to ignore! ;-)
As for the real "speed sensitivity" setting that affects wheel users, that's
in the "yourname".PLR file and is not accessible from the in-game menus in
the demo. Bit concerning seeing that one, as it harkens back to SCGT-era
stuff. Seems like that ought to be a function of the physics model, but
Nascar Heat had one too, now that I remember it. Hmmm...
You can get the pedals to work OK if you use DXTweak and set the center
values of your pedal axes very near the max. For example, my pedal min/max
values are 5 and 650, and I have my centers set at 625. It's odd, but it
works fine. Doesn't affect Papy games but will need to be reset to play
others. Hope they sort that out for the final.
Have fun,
SB

rms
rsquires&flash.net
runs fine on a celery at 875, and an old tnt card.
It will not run at all, why?, you got a voodoo3.
Why not working on voodoo3?, well.. for instance, the V3 only handles
textures sized 256*256, where many textures in F1 2001 and 2002 are
512*512.. etc.
Sorry :(

either. Your cpu is also borderline for sims of that caliber. I'd suggest
Nascar Heat for a less demanding program.
(there is a F1 mod...not anywhere near what F1 2001/2 is but better than
nothing)

Yes but where can I get the demo?

Here is a page with 3 links...this came from the main page at blackhole
motorsports... I haven't tested these to see if they work.
