Papyrus confirms fix for NASCAR 2002 patch AI bug

Goy Larsen asked Papyrus when they would fix the AI broken by the NASCAR Racing 2002 1.1.0.1 patch, which made the AI useless at low-speed corners. Others added the Martinsville pace-car problem and TimW described AI wrecks at Talladega. Papyrus's Eric Busch replied that a fix for the AI and the slow Direct3D frame rate was ready and would go through Sierra QA after E3.

...when are you going to fix the AI that was apparently broken with the patch ? Pre patch the AI is not worse than usual, post patch it's useless at certain tracks with low speed corners, try Sears Point if you have doubts Beers and cheers (uncle) Goy http://www.theuspits.com "A man is only as old as the woman he feels........" --Groucho Marx--
Goy... If they email their answer to you without posting it here....can you copy and post it for the rest of us? Thanks, Tom -:) "Goy Larsen" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

"Tradition......" LOL :O) Elrikk
Goy, Is there any way you could possibly ask David Noonan how much trouble it would be to see if his converter could do a N4-to-2002 Martinsville?? Was hoping maybe the converted version might fix the crazy pacecar problem? Thanks, Mick Side note: I've been asking Papy to respond about the pace car, over on the Sierra/Papy 2002 forum, and they won't even acknowledge it.. Funny thing is, when Marty came up, on the CUP schedule, everyone was fired up asking questions about the pace car going nuts.. So, one of the Papy Mods started a thread that basically said: "The Papy engineers are going to come and answer questions about the martinsville pacecar deal, please ask your questions now.." So about 50 people asked questions... Well, a week went by, and no reply from Papy.. Then another week with no reply, and most everybody just quit asking about it.. The next week they removed the thread, and plan on forgetting about it completely.. I guess they feel if they acknowledge it, they'll be expected to fix it?? But it looks like they've moved on to 2003, and are done with 2002...

Of course, there was always the option of doing it right in the first place; it was a known problem in N4, so no excuse for it getting into N2002 too.......................dope slap, right in the first place ? What AM I thinking, lol. -John
Goy, Hey, thanks for the reply, and info! (I only wish papy was so curtious..) Thanks again, Mick <edited> Goy Larsen wrote: I've forwarded your other post about the subject to him
Mick wrote: > > Goy, > Hey, thanks for the reply, and info! (I only wish papy was so curtious..) > Thanks again, Mick No worries Mick, and even though we do provide a great service at "The Pits" :-), it is a bit easier for us, we don't have anyone to answer to but our visitors, and they all know we do whatever it is we do for free and give us a lot of leeway, so the comparison isn't quite fair, but much appreciated nonetheless :-) Hope you get your track Mick..... Hmm an Aussie V8 Sim From Pappy Well that would be nice to see buy after winning the Game from EA and still feeling Ripped off by what I got! I think it would have to on par with Nascar 4/2002 before I would start to look at it! I would also say that it would be an unofficial release as AVSO have sold the rights to the tracks cars etc to Codies unless that is just this years rights! and the Pappy game is years away! But these are the things that Rumours are made of. LOL WEll thats My bit LOL do let us know about that too!
I'm still trying to figure out why it's broke. Talladega for example....with the patch, now the cars tend to check up ral bad in 3 and 4, causing huge AI wrecks. I've inspected every file in the Talladega folder, and nothing has changed from what's on the CD. Same with the papy_ai.ini file....no changes to that file with the patch either. So I have no clue what's causing the problems. On Tue, 28 May 2002 17:39:54 +0200, Goy Larsen <[email hidden]> wrote:

We have a fix for the AI problem as well as the slow D3D framerate that were introduced in the 1.1.0.1 patch (with a couple other fixes thrown in for good measure). Sierra QA has been extremely busy the past week or so with E3 preparations, but since that's over they will now be able to put the new patch through its paces. I don't have any real release timeframe to report, but is should be fairly soon. - Eric "Goy Larsen" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > > So Papy, any news on the broken AI ?
