Its gone gold. Anyone have a clue as to how good or bad the physics and control of the cars are going to be? Better or worse than Midtown Madness?
IMO, on the PS2, they're about a million times better than MTM...it's really got a really good feel to it, especially for a control pad game. The different cars all handle and drive exactly like you'd expect them to...average, slower cars tend to be a bit gutless with a push...muscle cars accelerate decently well but can go to oversteer easily...trucks feel nice and tippy, like trucks, lol...supercars are easy to powerslide, heh... Does this mean the game will come on PC, or not ? Milhouse wrote:

I can't wait. ;) It's a great game on PS2...but the graphics look soooooo much better on PC...I guess there's that whole benefit of upping the res from 640x480, heh... Milhouse "Destroy" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

It's out next Friday 24th on the PC. I've pre order mine for a mere 19.99 from play247.com. That's quite a bargin compared to usual price of 44.99 on the PS2. Yours looking forward to some mayhem Some Call Me Tim

In most areas it is pretty similar, but when the cars break away into slides it is so much more gradual, controllable and fun. The crashes are slightly less epic in terms of total vehicle count, but every bit as realistic. Trust me, you will buy this game.. not for the incessant violence (unless you are a little bit weird), but for the sheer scale of the game world and fun factor of just cruising the streets. I had doubts of it capturing the essence of GTA 1&2, but it has improved significantly. There is also a top down viewpoint a la earlier GTA's :-) Of course, the PC version might be cack, in which case ignore everything I just said. But then you can buy a PS2 (the game is worth it), and also get GT3, Metal Gear Solid 2, WRC, Colin 3 and a whole bunch more fantastic games. I don't know if there are any plans for a GC or xbox GTA3? -- Nick "The overriding purpose of software is to be useful, rather than correct." John Carmack, id Software
Ohh.. Colin 3. Any date on the release for that? Better or worse than Midtown Madness? The PS2 version is much better than MTM. The PC version, however, is supposed to have an even better driving model than the PS2 version. This is in addition to all of the other improvements (like mouse-look, more detailed textures, etc). Jason

Of course, if you like rally games, then the PS2 is the only place to be: Colin 3 WRC 2 V-Rally 3 Pro Rally 2002 Master Rallye Rally Championship (SCi) Or, if driving in general is your thing, then: Gran Turismo Concept: Tokyo-Geneva Gran Turismo Online Auto Modellista Total Immersion Racing F355 Challenge The Getaway Mercedes Benz World Racing TOCA Race Driver Starsky & Hutch F1 2002 Formula One 2002 NASCAR Heat 2002 Gumball 3000 Stuntman Alpine Racer 3 TD Overdrive That is just off the top of my head, but then I do follow racing games/sims pretty closely. Obviously, some of these will be pants, but I am getting pretty excited about the future of PS2 gaming, especially GT Online and Auto Modellista (which is also Online). -- Nick "The overriding purpose of software is to be useful, rather than correct." No. OPS2 mag UK was supposed to run a big update this month, but it got pushed over to next month (due out June 14). It is one of the games I am *really* looking forward to. Don't worry though, it hasn't done a WSC (which has just been removed (hopefully just forgotten) from the most up-to-date PS2 release schedule I have. It's a shame in some ways, because it [WRC] would have been the first out-and-out racing sim on PS2. I don't know much about TIR except it will have a Race Driver style career mode and AI which reacts and bears grudges (how many times have I heard *that* one :-) I will try to remember to post more on The Getaway as I get it. -- Nick "The overriding purpose of software is to be useful, rather than correct." Better or worse than Midtown Madness? Don't know the answer to your question, so I will ask one of my own... Anybody know if the PC version has wheel support? Or am I going to have to go buy a gamepad? FF? Well actually three questions, sorry. TIA, Gerald
