Often while looking for a race to join a "Help" button appears on the right
side of the screen. It says that it can't ping any servers. I've let it
change how if finds address (and restarted) but it doesn't help. It doesn't
seam to matter if I have "...find differently" checked or not.
I can join the majority of races I try. I can ping most races. I can even
join races I couldn't ping and once joined have acceptable (for my
connection) ping rates.
Any idea what the problem is and how to correct it? I assume it is a
problem as I'd like to see ping rates listed (in the table of races) so I
know ahead of time the races where I'd have the least amount warping.
The help message said to check the Papyrus message boards, but I haven't
found this discussed there
Thanks,
Russell
I had a problem similar to that.. in my situation, it was that in the
little IP address drop down box in the Sierra.com login box my LAN IP
address was selected, rather than my dial-up IP address. This caused me to
not be able to ping servers, but still be able to chat.. this may be just
some freak occurance, but i'd still make sure that you have the proper IP
set (assuming you have a LAN address..)
