Hi all, After much appreciated help from the newsgroup I have now had my copy of NR2002 for 4 days and have completed my first league race (it was great fun and very intense). I have just a few queries left: 1. I have searched for and downloaded a nNoCD fix for the patched version of the game. This works fine except it won't work in multiplayer (Sierra reports it as out of date). Pratting about with the CD is an immense PITA - anyone know of a fix that works with the patched version of the game? 2. I am a little confused over gear shifts. I have the clutch assigned to a button but, as in GPL, I don't use it on track. In GPL it's just throttle off for downshift and a slight lift for upshift. What's the correct way in NR2002 - I don't want to be blowing any motors in these 2 hour races. I have all aids off but have set clutch to auto but can't really feel any difference. Any ideas? Thanks in anticipation

You change gears in N2002 the same way as in GPL except you do it a lot less often. On the ovals you should only use the gears when pitting and during caution periods. During green flag periods you stick to 4th gear all the time, except maybe at Pocono and the road courses of course. In my experience you are more likely to lose gears rather than blow an engine if you change gear badly. Engines blowups are usually caused by too much tape for the weather conditions. The only way around using the CD for online play is to make an image of your cd with CdClone and mount it with Daemon Tools. Here are the instructions for Daemon Tools. I use this for any software that requires the CD. CD's are used for installing software, not running it. ;-) You ac get CloneCD here http://elby.ch/english/products/clone_cd/index.html and Daemon Tools here http://www.daemon-tools.com/ 1) Install Daemon Tools, create a folder within D-Tools folser called N2K2. 2) Put N2K2 CD in CDDrive, open Clone CD, select read to image file. 3) Select your CDDrive that you put the disk into, hit next. 4) Set Read Speed to Max and check box "Read Subchannel Data from Data Tracks", hit next. 5) Browse to the folder you created in D-Tools, probably C:\Program Files\D-Tools\N2K2, hit OK. 6) When image file is done, remove CD from drive. Right Click on Daemon Tools icon in systray. Select Virtual CDROM and mount image to Device 0. 7) Right click on Daemon Tools icon in systray and uncheck Autostart in Options. (the only thing that should be checked is Automount). Your Done! You know, I _still_ can't get this to work since moving to NR2002. I had no problems with N4 at all. What version of Daemon Tools are you using? I'm using the latest one (3.11 I think). Maybe that's the problem. Maybe only the older 2.x versions work right? I normally create my raw ISO's with DDump 1.10 (it works, and it's free), but I tried CDClone 4. I had the same lock-up problems with that resulting ISO. PC's... What fun :) -Larry "Don Schwartz Jr" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:Yw5I8.15877$[email hidden]... > The only way around using the CD for online play is to make an image ofyour

Hmmm.... Maybe I don't have a CDClone option set right. I'll try again with your settings. -Larry "Bob Fellenbaum" <hvacguy@ddgwireless(remove).com> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > Here are the instructions for Daemon Tools. Try using both graphic options and see if that helps. dave henrie
Dave, You aren't the only one having problems with lockups with the new OGL rasterizer! I've been fighting this ALL weekend. I've done everything up to and including formatting the drive and reinstalling all the Multi-Boot OS's (actually, 3 different boots of WinXP Home on the same drive). Took 20 hrs of my weekend :( There is no problem with D3D, except for the framerate issue that Papy knows about. I fixed that by replacing the new D3D Dll with the original from the CD as recommened on the NR2002 Online Racing welcome page. This frame rate problem is, in fact, the reason I backed off so much during the Loudon race towards the end. It cost me 3 positions, but I didn't want to screw anyone up. I started the race at 60fps, and by the time the end came I was down to the low teens! I'm thinking that the new OGL DLL is also bad. I haven't tried replacing it with the original yet because the old D3D is working ok, and my frame rates are up in the 70's. Not to mention I can set my refresh to 85hz in dxdiag and not get a headache! I havent found a reliable refresh rate fix for OGL since NvRefFix died off :( But I really prefer OGL. I'm not sure why Papy gave it such back-seat status in NR2002. -Larry "Dave Henrie" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:7wrI8.123295$[email hidden]... > > "Larry" <[email hidden]> wrote in message > news:xkjI8.82177$[email hidden]... > > You know, I _still_ can't get this to work since moving to NR2002. I'm using Daemon 2.74 and ConeCd 3.3.4.1 but I have a freind that is using newer versions. I check both subchannel boxes when making the image and install the game from the image once it is mounted in Daemon. This is the only way I could get it to work.
