After playing around with the gt mod, knowing that v3 is coming out soon i figured i'd cut a few laps to get used to it. The thing that striked me was that the cars feel like they have too much torque, it almsot feels like you are driving a 600hp cummins truck or something. I know that they have many hundred hp but i think its sort of relative to the traction they have. The viper spinning up at 140kmh with no clutch and soft a tyres seems a tad over-done to me... Also coming out of a hairpin in 3rd and bagging it up from almost idling revs with less than 1/2 throttle seems a little too much torque down very very low. I know the hp ratings are correct for the game, but does the game measure flywheel hp or hp at the wheels. Because if it measures the hp at the wheels and flywheel hp has been entered in its like running turbocharged cars, and thats how it seems at times. Has this changed at all in the gt v3 mod? I will be really interested to see if this has been addressed at all -- Luke -=87=-
The particular power output at each 125 rpm increment modelled. There's a lot more to it than entering a figure. The Physics engine takes the whole drivetrain into account and engine and drivetrain inertia, clutch inertia, and friction are all taken into account. Plus some of these cars are producing almost 700BHP, and that's realistic. Here's a listing for the viper. [ENGINE] // 640 hp@6500, 800 nm Torque @5300 per GT/ALMS/LeMans SPec - restricted. "Luke Phillips" <( The > viper spinning up at 140kmh with no clutch and soft a tyres seems a tad > over-done to me... Have you ever, Luke, attempted the pedal fix with DXtweek? Part of what you describe sounds like the split pedals not registering until you have depressed your pedal approximentally 50% of it's travel. However, even with the pedals tweeked, I still use one of the low helper settings...just to keep the car under me...(stability control I think) I may be a control freak, but I know my limits ;) dave henrie
But what about power loss? As a general rule a car will loose around 20-25% of its power through the drivetrain. I know that my old lwff controller with the short pedals and also the fact that 1/2 my pedal travel has gone even tho dxtweak says that my deadzones are 0% but still. Ive been in 550hp street cars and know that they wont spin up at 80kmh just by stomping on the pedal, let alone ones with the traction that these cars would have. Dont get me wrong tho, the work you guys have done is next to none, just something i thought. Luke -=87=- "Ian Bell" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:YM9K8.32652$[email hidden]...

That's the answer - you need to do the dxtweak trick. Without it those big deadzones make precise throttle control impossible. First get dxtweak 2 if you don't have it, that will allow you to change settings more easily. Run dxtweak2, check and make sure it is looking at the correct controller, and save your current settings with a name like "normal". Then go to the accelerator and brake tabs on the right hand side, and in the calibration window set the center value to 1 less than the max value (some people get essentially the same results by doubling the center and max values - I don't think it makes a difference). Save these settings under a new name, like "ISI". Now you can switch between the two by creating two shortcuts, one that has a command line of "dxtweak2 normal" and the other with a command line of "dxtweak2 ISI". Or you could even incorporate those command lines into a .bat file to run each game. Even though you will only need the ISI settings for SCGT and EA's F1 series, they have no affect on Papyrus games. So you will only need to switch back to the normal settings for games like NASCAR Heat or Need for Speed that use the DX calibration values. Yepp, noticed the same!. When you dont have any gear in, just reving the engine, its like a on/off-switch. going from idle to max revs in .001 secs :) "Luke Phillips" <(NOSPM)[email hidden]> wrote in message news:vq5K8.208149$[email hidden]... > After playing around with the gt mod, knowing that v3 is coming out soon i > figured i'd cut a few laps to get used to it.
