Racy RASCAR paint scheme and car painting tips

Ian P shared a new RASCAR car with a provocative paint job, which John Simmons called inappropriate. The discussion moved to whether foreign makes could race in NASCAR and to tips on painting cars for N2002.

We want pictures....... Beers and cheers (uncle) Goy "The Pits" http://www.theuspits.com/ "A man is only as old as the woman he feels" --Groucho Marx--
Don't download it then, it has the same filename as my previous car so you'll still see a car. It won't be so bad being behind your car today. You have to move that logo from the hood though. 8-p David G Fisher "Ian P" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:adtddb$ato$[email hidden]... > I've uploaded my new car to my website for anyone who wants to downloadit.

Cudos to all native English speakers if the following is wrong, but as I understand it, the term 'Stockcar' only means that it's a stock car - a car you could buy in a store at the corner. The term doesn't indicate that it has to be a Pontiac, Ford, or Dodge. While today's Nascars aren't real stockcars anymore ( they resemble their purchaseable counterparts less than an F2002 resembles a 575M Maranello :-) , as I understand it by definition any car could be a stockcar in the original sense of the term as it was created a few decades ago - a Ferrari, an Audi, a Jaguar, or even a Skoda ;-) They all could run in stockcar races (using the original meaning of the term - I don't know whether Nascar limits itself ot American brand cars), and then you'd perhaps indeed see some Ferrari Daytona, Audi or BMW like the ones Automan has designed. Mr. Simmons, do you possibly still have that Busch Beer car you made for me lying around your HD somewhere? I redid my HD and N4 wasn't something I backed up. Nascar doesn't allow foriegn makes in it's top series, to answer your question. It's not that Nascar doesn't allow Foreign makes, but they haven't stepped up to the plate yet. First they have to build a 350ci Carbuerated-PUSHROD v8. 2nd they have to dare the wrath of Xenophobic fans. Toyota is laying the ground work for entering Nascar, but even they are moving very slowly. From what I understand, by the end of the decade, maybe sooner, more Toyota's will be built in North America than Chrylser/Dodges. So they can claim some American presense(sp?). Mercedes and BMW have a small manufacturing foothold here. Who else? Nascar to does not prohibit fureners, they just don't go actively seeking their participation. Hell they went 20 years ignoring the #3 Car maker here in the STates. dave henrie

Actiually, I did the car for N3, so the converter won't work. I'm also trying a couple of different designs (I always thought the old one looked kinda cluttered). :) -- ========================================================= DeMONS/1 for Nascar Racing 3 & Nascar Legends http://www.paddedwall.org/demons DeMONS/2 for Nascar Racing 4 and 2002 Season (in development) http://www.paddedwall.org/demons2 RASCAR Roster http://www.paddedwall.org/rascar Redneck Techno-Biker & "programming deity" http://www.paddedwall.org/john Barbarian Diecast Collector (460+ cars and counting) http://www.paddedwall.org/diecast If you want to send me email, go to the first URL shown above & click "Send Me Mail" in the contents frame. =========================================================

Once you learn the paint program you prefer, and the considerations you need to keep in mind while you're creating the paintjob, it's really prety easy. The fastest way to paint a car is to have an idea of what you want to do, and how you want it to look when you're done. I find that wanting to just sit down and paint a car is impossible otherwise. Keep in mind that I adhere to the standard Nascar painting style, so my idea of "decent idea" might be 100% different from everyone elses. The best way to start is to do simple paint schemes. Less is more anyway. -- ========================================================= DeMONS/1 for Nascar Racing 3 & Nascar Legends http://www.paddedwall.org/demons DeMONS/2 for Nascar Racing 4 and 2002 Season (in development) http://www.paddedwall.org/demons2 RASCAR Roster http://www.paddedwall.org/rascar Redneck Techno-Biker & "programming deity" http://www.paddedwall.org/john Barbarian Diecast Collector (460+ cars and counting) http://www.paddedwall.org/diecast If you want to send me email, go to the first URL shown above & click "Send Me Mail" in the contents frame. =========================================================

Hell they went 20 years ignoring the #3 Car > maker here in the STates. > dave henrie Actually, it's a VERY strong unwritten "rule" Dave; no foreign makes in the top three divisions. Has been for as long as they've existed, especially re the brand loyalty of the past. The lower divisions on the other hand, have had Toyota engines, etc. in them for years. Dodge ignored Nascar more than vice versa too :) Last twenty-thirty years, they've had other things to worry about........like staying solvent. Even now, I believe there would be an incredibly strong backlash if this changed. Nascar could care less what fans think, but even they won't push it on this issue.................yet :) IMO, there's plenty of other racing series with "engine/chassis du jour", so I hope they keep it as is for awhile. -John >
