Does RBR have StarForce?

Richard Burns Rally copy protection and Daemon Tools adware

Asked whether Richard Burns Rally used Starforce, users replied that its SecuROM protection had been removed by patches and noted its developer had closed, with its lead reportedly starting a new moddable sim. Discussion turned to Daemon Tools version 4 bundling adware, and Myst V.

Automated summary.

RBR doesn´t use Starforce! The release version used SecuRom but the official patches got rid of it, so you can even play without the DVD in the drive now. Kudos to the developers (unfortunately out of business now)!
Really? They are dead? :( Frank Steinbach wrote: > RBR doesnt use Starforce! > The release version used SecuRom but the official patches got rid of > it, so you can even play without the DVD in the drive now. > Kudos to the developers (unfortunately out of business now)! >
Yes, they're dead - but check out the latest AutoSimSport. The lead on RBR has started development of a new sim. It's designed to be as moddable as rFactor, but with a really cool design that allows modders to publish content as re-usable objects. They can package them up in locked sets, or let other modders use individual components. The author info stays with the content, so there's less chance of the bickering over stolen work that seems to drive good modders away. He's got some really clever ideas, and RBR (his first sim) was so great I'm really looking forward to what may come of this. Kendt

Does it run ok on an XP machine with a Black Momo? -Larry "Frank Steinbach" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... RBR doesnt use Starforce! Yes on XP, and I think it was tuned to work best with the Logitech wheels IIRC (they actually unobtrusive had in-game ads). Works great with my Act-Labs as well. Stop asking questions and buy it already ;)! Kendt
April Fool's joke - I had my hopes up, but never read the actual joke announcement (claiming the "unrealistic" physics would be replaced with the better physics from Colin McRae Rally 3) until I was fully fished-in. Thanks Dave H. ;)! Kendt

Or you can use the Spyware infested Daemon Tools. Just to be sure. alexti wrote:

It's on the Fedex truck as we speak. Along with MYST V. Now that the Miller Brothers are on it again, MYST V should be a good one. gogamer.com ships quick! -Larry "[email hidden]" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Oh, man. It looks like he is right :( http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/archive/index.php/t-6219.html Daemon-Tools has gone WhenU. This is a positively horrible situation. That's pretty much the death of Daemon Tools. -Larry "Chang Liu" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:e2phc8$2hr$[email hidden]...

The two brothers who first coded the original Myst lived 5 minutes North of us in a suburb called Mead. Aside from them and Matt (Hope I don't blow his last name) Jessick who worked on AMA Superbike and the Drag Racing titles and I 'think' Warbirds before all that, we don't have any famous software type folks up here. Spokane is about 20 minutes from Idaho, a couple of hours from Canaduh(lol just joking folks..We all know how to spell the name of that country up North, C-eh? A-eh? N-eh? A-eh? D-eh? A-eh?) and about 5 hours from ANOTHER Foreign Country called Western Washington which is home to a very strange type of folk who vote for Govenors after they-themselves have died. :) The Myst brothers had a two story office building they purchased with the proceeds of Myst but I've never tracked down where it was located. It's been years since we've seen any news of them up here. I have no clue where they may be located now. Now you all know somebody who lived a few miles from somebody. Pretty cool eh? :) dave henrie
Right, but the WhenU engine is ever present and WhenU can do anything they want from that point. You can't trust ANY spyware/adware company to do the right thing. Absolutely not. That's been proven time and time again. Sorry, but Daemon-Tools is now dead to me. -Larry "Steve Simpson" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

I remember when the original MYST came out (it was originally a Mac-only title). They had something like 25 Mac Quadra's running 24 hrs/day rendering all the graphics. I also remember Robyn and Rand Miller were constantly on the Compuserve forum talking to users about everything, before and after the release. These are two very, very bright people. -Larry "Dave Henrie" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

I still use and install the last version of Daemon-Tools v3. Currently I have 3.47, I'm not sure if it was the latest... This version is enough for me and doesn't contain any spyware. v4.xx has indeed gone spyware. Bsplayer (the free version) has gone that way as well. I'm not paying for a software to play content I'm paying for. Mediaplayer Classic seems to be a good alternative for it, though. Let us know how you liked RBR :) -- Mika Takala
I'm glad you mentioned that about BSPlayer. I USED to use it and was just recently thinking about downloading the latest version. With the astounding level of hate of Spyware and Adware, it can only be concluded that these programmers are completely, totally out of their minds. -Larry "Mika Takala" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:c3q4g.7728$[email hidden]...

Cool, but one minor point, you blew the joke. The original name of "that country up north" was CND. When asked how to spell it, the guy said "C-eh? N-eh? D-eh? Sam
Got it in. You know, those gogamer.com folks are pretty darned good. Shipped same day of order 2 day fedex for only $6.99. This is a tough game, no doubt! Can someone with a Black Momo tell me what your settings are in the profiler and the game? I'm getting wheel stiffness but no real effects. -Larry "Sammy Marks" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:ray4g.266$t_2.229@trnddc07...
