Much as I love my Momo - my mild Carbon Fibre fettish ( oh go on, dont tell me a nice piece of gleaming Carbon Fibre doesnt get you going ) got me thinking... The greay metal facia (with logitech and momo written on it ) come off easily with the 6 allen bolts and I'm no thinking of making a carbon fibre replacement for that genuine lush-ness look. I've looked into the costs of getting sheet carbon fibre 3mm thick (somewhere between 7 and 15 per 5 inch x 5 inch 'blank' ) It's simply a case of cutting and filing the edges to shape, drilling the 6 holes for the buttons, 2 holes for LED's and 6 countersunk holes for the allen bolts. Does anyone else fancy having a go at one of these - or - pending any success or lack there-of - want one made ? If I'm getting the carbon fibre sheet - it's best to get a bigger bit than a little bit :D Cheers Doug

first sensible reply it seems... : i dont think i have the kit to do this properly myself, but would happily have one done for me, paying for the blamk you buy and a sensible amount for the workmanship (assuming you had done it already and were pleased with the result of your own version...) where are yiou based? UK? "Douglas Ellison" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:aecc9n$5uat2$[email hidden]... > Much as I love my Momo - my mild Carbon Fibre fettish ( oh go on, donttell

UK? Leicester I'll get three blanks. One practice ( and my finished one if it's ok) One proper one - and one for you :D Once I get more info on the price of materials I'll get back to you Doug
Just curious if you have every worked with carbon fibre? I haven't personally but I've heard it's worse than fibreglass for splitters and such but not sure. You might want to look into handling it before buying it. I've talked to the manufacturers - it's bad for splintering - but using a ceramics jigsaw blade, and taping over holes before drilling usually eleviates the problem Doug
Keep in mind that The Ceramic Jig Saw blade will dull extremely fast with Carbon Fiber. As would Carbide. The best thing to use would be either a diamond endmill/Blade or at least a 120 Grit Grinding wheel such as found in machine shops. The company I used to work for, Machined Carbon Fiber and Carbon/Carbon for the Extrusion industry etc. And these tools were found to be the most effiecient.
