Tom's Hardware wheel review and pedal preferences

Larry pointed to a Tom's Hardware wheel roundup but disagreed with its praise of the Momo pedals. Others suggested pairing the Momo with TSW or Redline pedals, praised Nigel Nichols' Redline products, and noted a new Thrustmaster Ferrari wheel. An exchange between Gerry Aitken and Larry about his unused Momo turned testy.

This is a bit old, and everyone may know about it already, but I don't recall seeing it posted. There is a wheel review at Toms Hardware. http://www.tomshardware.com/consumer/02q2/020524/index.html The only thing I can't really agree with is his liking of the Momo Pedals, which I consider to be the worst pedal set I've ever used, and is the only reason the Momo has been back in it's box since 8 hours after buying it. -Larry

Why didn't you use the wheel with another set of pedals? Gerry
Connect a set of TSW pedals to yer MOMO and you'll be immediately teleported to Virtual Racing Heaven. "Larry" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:r3pQ8.57824$[email hidden]...

Yeah, I've got mine on display at the shop when I'm not using them, and while I don't think I've managed to sell any extra sets for Nigel this way, people are amazed about the quality and finish of the product, it's pure art Of course, my brother ordered a set ...:-) Beers and cheers (uncle) Goy http://www.theuspits.com "A man is only as old as the woman he feels........" --Groucho Marx--
Do you guys know the web site address for these pedals? Thanks for any info. Mick > > Goy Larsen wrote: > > > > > Or even a set of Redline pedals > > > > > > Nigel Nichols for president !

What makes you say that about the pedals? They look completely different from mine. The wheel is constructed differently from past Ferrari wheels http://www4.tomshardware.com/business/02q2/020529/e3_day2-07.html , so I'd expect the new pedal design is more than cosmetic. The thing that I can't believe is that the TH crew didn't include GPL in their testing suite for the wheels. I mean c'mon, if you're after a test in precision driving, GPL is the only way to test!

You're quite welcome, got my racing PC setup here so you can try them out, and no, Nigel doesn't pay me commission for this :-), just a very satisfied customer Beers and cheers (uncle) Goy "The Pits" http://www.theuspits.com/ "A man is only as old as the woman he feels" --Groucho Marx--

But I'm afraid I'm not in Moss to often. Last time must have been like 15 years ago, and it could take another 15 years before I have any business in or close to Moss. I hope to have a decent set of pedals and more time to use them before that! :) Jone Stavanger
Not all games like that setup. If it was universal, I'd be there! -Larry "Gerry Aitken" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Looks like an upside-down Momo, and the pedals look funky. -Larry "David G Fisher" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:12sQ8.48949$[email hidden]...

Gamers that don't like multiple controllers connected. -Larry "Gerry Aitken" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

That should be GAMES, not GAMERS. LOL! -Larry "Larry" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:5IIQ8.61526$[email hidden]...

Sorry, I don't really keep a list :) A lot of stuff will only work with one controller, though. Luckily, Papy stuff isn't one of them. -Larry "Gerry Aitken" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Well, let me put it like this then, much like anyone who has bought a TSW or something similar, you'd be hard pressed to find a customer of Nigel's who isn't very satisfied with his products ... and hey, if you end up not liking it, hang it on the wall as a piece of art :-) Beers and cheers (uncle) Goy "The Pits" http://www.theuspits.com/ "A man is only as old as the woman he feels" --Groucho Marx--

Can't get anyone to buy it. Why am I explaining myself to you ? -Larry "Gerry Aitken" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Probably because your not sure what your doing yourself, so explaining to me has helped you to understand your own actions. You said you were not using the momo wheel ONLY because you don't like the pedals. Well if you had any sense you would have wired a set you do like into it. You could probably use the ones you are using right now. If you did that you'd have an overall better setup than you now have, and would not have a superior wheel sitting in a box. You even hinted that Papy sims are your main concern, in which case you wouldn't have needed to wire anything in. But hey, all I can say is: Nice use of resources ...not!
Dude, get a life. I can handle my own just fine, thank you :) I don't need mothering. -Larry "Gerry Aitken" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...
