I just purchased a Logitech MOMO yesterday. :-) Funny thing was that Costco
were selling cheaper than wholesale cost (paid CDN$199), cost is approx CDN
$245. I haven't yet done the squash ball mod, but plan to.
Overall, I'm impressed with the wheel, the quality of construction, etc.
One question I have though is about the FF effects in Need for Speed:
Porsche Unleashed. I used to play this game with my Logitech Strike Force
3D joystick, and I could feel differences between the pavement and the
dirt, etc. Collisions were also very apparent. With the MOMO, I get the
engine feel, but not a whole lot else. I've tried going into Windows and
setting the FF effects right up to 150%, but other than making the engine
feel more apparent, the other effects seem to be missing. I'm obviously
missing something here. BTW, I'm running WinXP and the latest Logitech
drivers.
Can anyone shed some light on this problem?
Thanks,
J.

Unfortunately, this seems to be a problem with NFS:PU, not with the wheel. I
have the same problem with my Thrustmaster Nascar Pro Force Feedback, and I've
seen other people report this issue as well. It seems to be a problem with
DirectX 8.1 and NFS:PU, from what I understand from a post to the Thrustmaster
forums.

(still have the control panel\game controllers settings at their defaults,
whateber they may be...)

Such an awesome game, and the force feedback doesn't work very
well with a FF wheel. :-( Is there any workaround?

haha come on. NFS5 is a total joke where FF is concerned. Why bother or
care how it works? Just turn it off. FF is unusable online BTW.

Roger,
As I mentioned from my earlier post...I'm new to the whole FF wheel on my
computer. What games would you recommend? I want games that will get my
heart racing and have me want to give up sleep to play 'em.
BTW, my system is an Athlon 1.333 GHz, Geforce 2mx, 512MB DDR memory, on
WinXP.
Thanks,
J.

Excellent post. This is the key to making Porsche Unleashed feel
right. I'm also using the Momo and these are the settings I use.
Try them as a baseline, and see if it improves the feel of the game.
Stick Volume 80 to 85%
Road Effects 25%
Collision 40 to 50%
Engine 5%
Road Grip 80 to 90%
Turning the Road Effects down and the Road Grip up is the key.
Tim
Tim,
I've changed the settings to what you recommend...WOW! Much better. Thank
you!

I don't think the forces aren't really as out-and-out bad as other
posters were saying, it's just that the default setup is tweaked to
feel the wrong things. Glad that helped.
