Hey folks. For the past few weeks we have been experimenting with "Live"
race broadcasting. We literally capture a race as it is happening and then
encode and broadcast the feed to the public. We are still working on a few
details but we could really use the help in putting a stress test on our
system.
The link is here http://vbn.gtrracing.com
The pre-race show starts at 8:45 PM EST / 7:45 PM CST
You can check out the page now, there isn't anylive video right now but you
can see the basics. Also we are featuring an idea I thought up similar to
NASCAR's racecast - what we do is actually broadcast the standings of the
race every lap or so - this keeps you updated on who is in what position and
what lap are they on - just like they do on TV with the scrolling Marquee.
Check it out and please help us out tonight by watching at least some of the
stream.
By the way you can join us on PALTALK (www.paltalk.com) during the race, you
will need a free account and once your signed in just choose groups and then
VRW_Sportsman, not the VRW CUP group, that is a different division then the
one we are in and talking in.
Thanks for your help - feel free to check out the site.

I like this idea. I just checked out the site, I got the standings
update, but never any video coverage at all. The window on the left
came up blank with a little icon in the top left corner after the
plugin was loaded. Running WinXP with a cable modem.
This was between 9:45 and 10pm EST. (the window on the right said a
"Race" session is in progress.)

I'm watching the cars run around Pocono and listening
to two announcers. The video is slightly blurry...but heck! This is
definately a step in the right direction. Good work lads.

Opps, I didn't have real player installed. I thought it would load
whatever it needed. Anyway, went and got real player, and shockwave,
and am checking it out now. I really like the idea, and the
announcers even! It's pretty slow on my cable though. (video
updating, and pausing quite a bit.) No slow down or lag with the
announcers though. I think you guys are on to something here. :-)
