West brothers rule out a Goodwood WSC demo

The West Racing site said there would be no simulator demo at Goodwood, but the project would be announced there. Posters said they would not buy into the hype until they could drive it, joked about features, and noted the online cars would be authenticated to prevent cheating. Jason Moyer recalled Dave Kaemmer praising their physics at E3 2000.

A number 10 car, and "A note to anyone who is planning on going to Goodwood expecting to drive our simulator: There will not be a demo at Goodwood but we shall be announcing our project and will be giving out some information about it" Chris and Tony must have a really field day with their latest "How to create some internet frenzy" stunt :) -- Olav Malmin remove .spam when replying
So basically we're back to square one. I'm not buying into the hype this time. When I can drive it, I'll either like it or I won't. I think a lot of people (myself included) have set themselves up for disappointment. We all want the perfect sim, and have yet to see it, although some have come very close. The West's new sim - which most likely won't be called WSC - has the potential, but then again, so have a few others that have not lived up to expectations. We'll just have to wait and see... - David Cook "Olav Malmin" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Yeah, I agree, no point in buying in on hype... when a demo or full release is out, then maybe we can get excited, but not before. And besides, we have FIAGTv3 to keep us busy now.

I know the secret. The West are going to announce their new game. It's a monster raising, extreme skateboard game, with online multiplayer capture the flag play, all taking place in a massive persistant online hi-tech urban hip-hop world..... oh yeah... it is for the XBox and PS2.... Seriously. How can this game, or any other live up to the hype. This game is being set-up to be all things to all people. With this wide of a scope, how can the game ever make everyone happy? And since it's supposed to be a very open sim, it really needs some way to check that the drivers entering an online race don't drive anything else than what they are supposed to drive. Online racing won't be much fun if the server can't detect a driver having to much horsepower, to much grip or whatever. _ Mats Lofkvist [email hidden]

SHould do your research really. It's been mentioned in the pass that for cars to go public and race online - they will have to go thru an authentication/locking procedure by Chris and Tony - thus making them uneditable in the future. This guarentees that what someone races online is what it appears to be Let us not forget - that cheating in F12001 mods is as easy as editing a txt file. I made a 400kph beast in 30 seconds. Doug
