Well, that was a short one fer me. Bandedo dude sent me to infield wall.
First time i blew an engine just from hitting the wall butt first. Thanks a
lot for my hans device and the whole grubbat team. I really feel sorry for
all the guys. They brought me a car that was pretty good right off the
trailer. Also like to thank Eldred, buckwheat, and the whole dodge group for
the engine package. Also like to thank my new domesticated partner for the
sacrifice that she and the family has made.
On a serious note, got to do something bout these freaking summer fleas.
The dogs underneath the porch is breeding fleas like there aint no tomorrow
and we track them in every time we come into the house. Not just small ones,
but great big ones that leaves welps on you when they bite. When I push down
on the gas, you can see them jumping. This sucks. .
I'm looking forward to reading the discussions on the Daytona race.
Wished we had 43 people that would show up to race. I thinks that 23 showed
up for Daytona.
Time to start practicing for the Texas RASCAR race next week

RASCAR league Daytona race recap and incident review
Members of the r.a.s. RASCAR league discussed their NASCAR Racing 2002 Daytona race, which had ten cautions. Drivers reviewed replays of three-wide moves and contact, with several apologising for incidents, and Eldred posted results and the replay. The thread drifted into advice about dog fleas.

Automated summary.
Way too many early cautions. I hoped it would be a good race. One thing I
don't understand is I pass 4 cars up high and am outside the leader and the
3rd place car decides to make it 3 wide. I had just passed him on the
outside so I would think he knew I was there. Really not enough room in the
corners at Daytona for that and I got squeezed into the wall. Dave had
mentioned at the start that we shouldn't run the low line the whole race,
but I can see why people do.

What surprised me (as a Nascar rookie Brit.) was how fierce the racing
was in these early stages. No obvious co-operation or tucking in the
draft. I was expecting a settling down period after the initial mayhem,
but it never materialised.
I was more than happy to be on the lead group and have the leader in
site up ahead. There were cars jostling for position in a group of 10
cars or so, ending up 3 wide, Mike in the wall and me wrecked when I hit
one of the spinning cars.
The practice session was way different with some good co-operation and
clean driving.
> Dave had mentioned at the start that we shouldn't run the low line

At one point I had a car on my outside - not close to be called by the
spotter so still just behind me. I kept low not wishing to block his
run. We must have gone close on a lap like this, eventually he dropped
back far enough for me to safely move up. I really wasn't sure if this
was the right thing to do or I would be considered blocking by holding
the low line. I just felt safer holding my line than moving across him.

Suprised me to Tony. You would have thought we were on an open Papy server.
Three wide with 40 laps to go makes no sense.
Kyle
the three wide stuff really was ridiculous, this is daytona not talladega, i
had to let off lots of times for cars either forcing their way in between me
and someone else(ian parker), or just swooping in front of me as i was about

Uh....it's Bamadano not Bandedo dude and the replay shows much different
happenings. Next time dont straddle the inside yellow line and shoot up the
track trying to correct. It would be kinda hard to take you out with the left
rear quarterpanel. Good luck with the fleas.

Would u pls tell me when this occured (lap#), I'm trying to race clean
but willing to learn.
From my POV i've had a pretty clean race and never blocked someone who
ran there car besides me (and there were plenty of 'm).
Despite there wasnt much drafting going on and plenty yellows, I had a
great race. I qualified 3rd, was fortunate to have the low line in the
last turn and ended up winning the race.
I'm pretty pleased about that but if you guys think i raced dirty please
let me know.
cheers, #103 -- JLe
i'll check what laps they were and let you know probably by tomorrow, it was
one or two times where you were low and i was fixin' to pass you outside but
then you went high unexpectedly (from my view) and i had to let up

I think what causes that is someone in line having to lift right as someone is
passing. The second car usually has to lift a bit to keep from punting. If
the third car in line is close enough, he can take advantage of the second
car's momentary lift. I don't think it's done on purpose, but it happens. I
got in a couple 3-wide runs near the end. The first time, I was low man, and
backed out. Lost 4 spots in the process. We got in another 3-wide situation a
couple laps before the final caution, but everyone held their line. I'm glad,
because I got stuck in the middle on that one...whew! :-)

I think you are talking about the incident where we all got together on the
back-straight coming up to turn 3. I agree, I was not expecting that car to
do that. It made NO sense whatsoever, and I sure as hell wasn't ready for
it.
We had two, distinct racing lines running, and running and racing well. I
was on the low side (I think I was in the lead) and you were on the outside.
Then, for reasons I didn't understand at first, my car got all wobbly on me.
At first I thought someone bump-drafted me, but then I saw that car comming
up on the inside! This put me in the middle three-wide. Because of the
instability, we just barely touched and the rest is history.
Again, I'd like to take a moment to apologize for calling you to the trailer
on that. You and the car that went 3 wide were both orange, I believe, and
I was also going by my position meter. I've been racing you for years, and
I should have known better instantly you wouldn't have done that anyway :)

Larry, would you please explain your view of the "final lap"
incident? I beat you to tenth, but only by crossing S/F
*sideways* with smoking tyres after that collision with you.
From my replay it looks like you got onto the horizontal part
of the apron, came back on the track and hit me on my left side
(I was in the lead by half a car length at that point).
Cheers,

important. My replay didn't show what you described but I never saved it so

I watched the replay, and _I_ actually sent Bama up into the wall on Lap 15.
Is this the incident you are speaking of?
If so, that was MY fault, not his.
I didn't actually touch him, but either air or warp sent his car around. It
was real close.
But, since I was the one drifting upwards, I'll take the heat for this one

I can understand why the real racers don't like this package. It truly
sucks!
I have actually lost interest in running SS races as much as I used too,

No Larry the incident he was refering to was lap 2. I watched the replay of
ours and I'll be damned if I know what happened. Close but no contact but
around I went. As John would say...OOTRD. LOL
Dan
Yeah, I saw that we didn't touch either. That just happens sometimes, and I
think it's either air pressure (if that's actually modeled, I'm not sure) or
one of us might have had a micro-second warp.
Either way, I was the one drifting up and if I hadn't done that it probably
wouldn't have happened, so I take the blame for it :)
We were completely equal after that because we had identical rear-end damage
(see my post about canned-damage). We had our own race going on :)

David is correct. I'd like to add to this...
I have two Golden Retrievers (which is pretty obvious if you've seen my car
:) ), and while I've had to deal with fleas before (in the old days, on the
farm), I haven't seen a flea on my cat or dogs in 10 years, and they don't
get any sort of treatments.
I found that having a gravel dog-run has ceased every flea problem I've ever
had.
Anyway, you need to talk to a Vet because you have a multi-faceted problem
to deal with, and you have to plan out the cure properly.
You are going to have to attack ALL area's of concern at the same time,
including:
1. The House.
2. The Grounds outside (They have special sprays for this).
3. The Dogs themselves.
4. This 'under the house' area, which I'm not quite sure I understand.
You will probably have to drop the dogs off at the vet for serious baths and
special dips. At the same time, the kids should go do some activity
somewhere else, and while everyone is away you need to take care of the
house, grounds and under-house.
It's the ONLY way you will ever take care of this. Doing one or two at a
time will not help at all. It has to be hit from ALL sides at the same time
to be effective.
Again, discuss this with your Vet and set up a PLAN of attack.
Fleas can be a real bitch, but you can beat it.

but with the support of the group, I know that we can win this one. Now for
my confession. (Standing), "my name is grub, and i have fleas." That wasnt
too hard. I guess they were right.....the first step to recovery is
admitting that you have a problem. snif

Totally my bad. All I can say is I brain-fotted, I guess. I was
spending a lot of attention on the car on the inside that was a little
warpy. He slowed up I went high to pass and must have forgotten you
were up there.
My spotter said "car outside" about the time I felt the FF tellin me
you were there.
I think you left before I had the chance to apologize on the server,
so please accept my late apology.
If this wasn't you then... uhh, nevermind.

ps: the bottom line is preferred for a reason. What is the problem
with driving the preferred line? You wouldn't complain about it on
any other track would you?
