RASCAR Daytona race behaviour complaints

Mitch Alatorre complained that the RASCAR Daytona race had pickup-race behaviour, such as low-line hugging and three-wide moves. Participants traded replay-based accounts of a three-wide pileup, apron use and an alleged jumped start, and talked about online warp. Most agreed the race was still better than open servers, and several apologised for incidents.

Well without resorting to calling each other stupid and the such. The attitude was 100% pickup racing from all around. Seems to me if we keep letting in guys just to run the Daytona's and Degas this is what we'll end up with (who was topper?). From guys hugging the low lane ALL the way around ALL race to guys never giving an inch to the guys in the high line and don't forget the restart jump at the end. Yeah Fredrickson YOU!!! All you did all race was whine about everyone else (u2 Larry) then you pull this shiet to restart the last lap. BS for sure! N2K2 doesn't penalize jumpers but NASCAR would have BF'd ur ass! Brian, I watched our replay and really think it was kinda like the Waltrip/Benson deal last night. I was creeping down you were creeping up and we touched trying to occupy the same real estate. For my part Sorry!!! Mitch
My only whine was when Topper went three wide and wiped a bunch of us out. I also mentioned that your car was bouncing all over the track. I prefaced that with the fact that it could be warp, and wasn't insinuating that you were a maniac. I made mention of this for EVERONE's benifit. I couldn't muster up the guts to pass you the way your car was bouncing around. Settle down there, Mitch... -Larry "Mitch Alatorre" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:DR_V8.1602$[email hidden]... > Well without resorting to calling each other stupid and the such. > > The attitude was 100% pickup racing from all around. Not to be rude Larry but what r u talking about? I watched the entire replay and although I was using the whole track I *NOT ONCE* so much as had a spike. My lat indicator remained a sliver the entire race (every race for that matter). As for what you were insinuating I'm still trying to figure that one out... As for your incident from my perspective. Coming outta 2 you were on the inside of Grandy. You moved slightly up the track (still well below mid track though) and topper unwisely took you all 3 wide below yellow. As he pulled up inside you swerved slightly right initiating contact between you and Mike. I'm not sure whom this guy is but he's surely a pickup racing king and drives just like it. BTW 3 wide at tona is quite possible all the way around when guys can hold a line and trust each other. In article <DR_V8.1602$[email hidden]>, [email hidden] says... > From guys hugging the low lane ALL the way around ALL race to guys never > giving an inch to the guys in the high line and don't forget the restart > jump at the end. Yeah Fredrickson YOU!!! I watched the replay (very carefully) and Fred didn't jump the start. Indeed, ZZ Busch got a better start than fred, because he passed him LONG before the pair got to the start/finish line. HOWEVER... Fred used the apron as part of the racing surface just after he got past the start/finish line (and that's how he got next to you). This *was* a bullshit move and could have resulted in a huge wreck. Question for ginger - in almost every race, as the pace line comes around the first time, you appear to fake a pit entrance. If that's what you're doing, why? All it does is risks a wreck. The races really aren't long enough to worry about needing more than one stop (assuming the race stays green the whole way, and we all know that ain't gonna happen), and there's certainly no advantage as to when you pit. Mitch, That's why I said it was probably warp :) You will not see your own warp on YOUR replay. Only those who see it will record it. On my replay, your car is bobbing all around. Warp does not always occur due to your connection to the server. From what I understand, someone elses car can induce it to other people sometimes. As has been discussed many times, different replays show different things. Your own replay will never show your own warp regardless of where it comes from (connection, server, etc...). On the other matter, you are correct. The main drift to the right came after he went under me. At first, I didn't understand why my car became unstable, but once I did it was too late :( -Larry "Mitch Alatorre" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:tW%V8.1633$[email hidden]... > Not to be rude Larry but what r u talking about? It really wasn't that bad. It was Daytona, new aero package, fast setup, mixed in with a couple of mistakes :) With an exception or two, it beat the hell out of an online race. -Larry "jon" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:W_%V8.55704$[email hidden]...

Hehe... Sorry about that :) Some folks were impatient about the yellows and left. Personally, yellows don't bother me as I consider it a necessary part of racing, and understand how much it factors into strategy. If I had one gripe I REALLY had to state, it was the slinky-type restarts. For whatever reason, some folks simply would not close it up for the restart, and it _really_ hurt those of us on the lead lap but back behind a lot of lapped cars (especially). -Larry "jon" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:Np0W8.56082$[email hidden]... > Well now I am back to being sorry I missed it because of work..... > > > "Larry (The Other Larry)" <[email hidden]> wrote in message > news:ak0W8.33442$%%[email hidden]... > > It really wasn't that bad. If the leader is running the low line all the way around and people are patient they can either a.) hang him out to dry or b.) do what you do at any other track - wait for a mistake I've never seen anyone run the low line at Tona or Dega (especially in the fast setups) without burning the tires off and/or drifting out of the low groove at least once on entry. The key is to wait for that moment and take advantage of it. Like anywhere else, if they come down mid-turn and hit you it's their fault for not holding their line. Inevitably, someone holding the low line will leave the door open. Finally, that damn Michael Waltrip holding the low line last night for half the race. What's up with that? He should be fined!!! </sarcasm> Jason
No, we are talking about PAPY servers. I know of no issues of this happening at the RASCAR race, of which I am personally thankful. Mike Grandy and I had a really great couple of laps racing side by side. The lines were proper, and everyone was well-behaved until someone went 3-wide. -Larry "jason moyer" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Yea, i didnt jump the start, just look at the leaders speed, he was faster than everyone at the green, and since it was the last lap i wasnt gonna let him just run away from us, i used the apron because the dude in front of me was going so slow, if i slowed down i woulda been screwed, and i knew my apron pass was gonna be safe at that spot.

I avoided a big wreck on lap 25 when i was on the backstretch, going signifigantly faster than #86, when he just comes up the track while i'm plainly visible in his rearview, and taps me, i let off right away and we didnt spin. but i was pretty mad after that. on lap 31, 317 seemed more at fault than anyone else, he didnt hold his line and came down, i wouldnt say the car he hit was moving up, ditto on lap 43. the next thing that drove me nuts was on lap 58, with 317 behind me i was nervous to begin with, then 68 comes inside me going 3 wide, i knew something bad was about to go down so i let off, and it was a good thing too because 68 goes high in that turn and scrapes the wall, which would have been me if i didnt let off, then 317 decides to go 3 wide too. on the next lap 68 decides to go 4 wide, and at this point i just fall back because everyone infront of me was driving like a bunch of SUV soccermoms late for their beauty parlor appointment. so there were at least 2 big ones i actually prevented. so lets see, 317 causes 2 yellows, i cause 0, maybe even prevented some, so dont go telling me about whining when i had legitimate complaints. and john simmons already covered my "jump"

If you had stayed in the battle I'd have backed off and stayed behind him on the middle line. then 317 decides to go 3 wide too. on the next > lap 68 decides to go 4 wide, and at this point i just fall back At no point on my replay was I driving 4 wide, though even if I was I don't see a problem with it as I trust the people I was racing. because > everyone infront of me was driving like a bunch of SUV soccermoms late for > their beauty parlor appointment. so there were at least 2 big ones i > actually prevented. Yeah I caused a couple incidents, both of tthe times i was in the high groove and pinched it a little tight and paid the price both times. I apologized to Brian and JLe wasn't affected. The only pleasure I get from either Dega or Tona is running the high line and passing the line huggers. If you are racing someone you can trust on the inside then it'll usually work out ok. I passed a bunch of cars 3 or 4 times doing it. The only chance for the high groove is to pinch it and pray :) As for 3 wide.... HOOOOOAH AIRBORNE.. thats racing man!! Jumping starts....John covered it so it's ok???? Again true full bodied pickup racing tude.. You don't think I coulda held back and jumped as well?? You don't I coulda easily wrecked both of us blocking you? See I don't race that way and don't appreciated being raced that way. NASCAR woulda BF'd you. Enough said.. You dropped below the yellow line at least 3 times(lap 25 and 37 for example) , so you would have been blacked flagged in NASCAR as well, but guess what, this aint NASCAR official rules. If you dont have to follow those rules why do i? As for this jumping the start crap, look at my speed, then look at the leaders speed, and the guy behind me, both were going faster than me, you were the one pulling a kevin harvick restart. The tale of the tape.

Check that replay. I got into you because 1 was trying to pass me on the inside below the yellow line down the backstretch and then you decided to go to the outside and try to make me the meat in a shit sandwich. And you weren't going "signifigantly" faster. I had checked up a bit to keep from running into the car in front of me. You know you have to do that sometimes when drafting in a pack. Of course it seems like some of you guys just go balls to the wall all the time. Kyle

I don't think the 3-wide *itself* is an issue, because I found myself there TWICE, and neither time produced a wreck. However, NASCAR has seen fit to penalize drivers for going below the line. Had this have been a points race, he would have been dropped a lap in the scoring. Also, Topper spun Neil C. while racing back to the line for the last caution. I thought that was totally uncalled for... :( If I still run the Coca Cola race(not sure ATM), it will be invite only. I don't want that race to deteriorate into a crashfest. Eldred -- Homepage - http://www.umich.edu/~epickett My .sig file is in the shop for repairs... Remove SPAM-OFF to reply.

It's always situational, and this wasn't the right situation for it to be attempted. -Larry "EldredP" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > In article <wJ0W8.33458$%%[email hidden]>, "Larry \(TheOther

Hmm...after looking at the replay, I see I may have forced Mitch high when I was in the middle. My replay doesn't show contact, but he car jumps into the wall. It may have been warp, but I don't know. Sorry, Mitch. Eldred -- Homepage - http://www.umich.edu/~epickett My .sig file is in the shop for repairs... Remove SPAM-OFF to reply.
